Best Place to Live for Mid-20's in NYC?

Title says it all, some of older threads are dated

East / West Village, SoHo, Tribeca, Murray Hill, etc. ??

Everyone is in Murray Hill. I know the "cool" people want you to think you should live downtown, but you would look so pathetic leaving for work wearing a button down shirt in the East Village.  Same goes for Greenwich Village.  SoHo is where you may decide to move when you are more established (read: have more money) and you would only feasibly live in TriBeCa if you became some kind of CEO / founder / owner of something.

If you are absolutely determined to be "cool" then consider Chelsea or something west side like that, but just know every weekend you'll be headed back to Murray Hill for your friends' pregame anyways. Good Luck!

Everyone is in Murray Hill.

Correction:

*Every LAME person is in Murray Hill

I thought most people end up ubering down to EV/LES to go out? In another thread people were saying MH is okay but that they're moving downtown bc they hate the uber surge over the weekend. Especially considering there's a decent amount of banks staying hybrid at 2-3 days/week and even those days you wfh in the evening, I feel like you can live a little further from the office.

1. East Village

then:

SoHo, LES, West Village

last:

Murray Hill (unless you have a private pool like my friend did in Murray Hill)
