Black Friday DEALFESTS
Anyone scanning to pick up some sick deals? A lot of places are popping things out right now at midnight or even today.. for all my fellow nerds, using 'bad pricing' mistakes on some sites and a combination of mail in rebates and tax write offs for my 'trading computer' ive built this for $494.12 post taxes and mail in rebates
i5 2500k with a biostar p67 motherboard Radeon HD 6970 2GB 120 GB Agility 3 SSD Thermaltake Armor A60 Case with 2x Additional Antec Tricool Fans Antec High current Gamer 750W power supply Corsair A50 CPU Cooler 16GB Corsair XMS3
diablo 3 cometh. prolly order a bunch of clothes as well.
Thinkpad x220t with i7 was $990 yday (sold out)
I can't wait till I have some disposable income for a Black Friday. Blows being a broke college student. That rig sounds sick though. What're you doing for monitors?
www.slickdeals.net
Hoping I can pick up an Xbox better than current offers.
I used to check out this site everyday, but I've grown weary of it. I never seem to find any real great deals anymore.
2 years ago I found round trip tickets for my gf and I from Chicago to London for under $500 total ( $20 ticket price each and then ~$200 of taxes and fees each). That was my one great slick deal, other than that it's just been small savings on a few things.
I found this laptop for 500, and they have 10 left at the micro center by me.
But I don't think it's even worth going there - people been in those tents since last week...
I honestly don't get what the point of not allowing online reservations is. they would get cleaned out without having to risk a lawsuit for someone trampling over someone else...

i think for another hundo or two more you can get a much more solid comp... i have 2 26 inch monitors and 2 24 inch ones and a 20 or so :P
That's actually a great deal on those components. Did you just go through Newegg or did you shop around?
I agree that I could def get a great comp.
but I need a laptop unfortunately.
Don't know what's worse: knowing thread author by title or only understanding "nerds" from entire post.
someone find me a better deal than this:

Pretty damn good - but the screen size is a deal breaker for me
15 or more.

I bought the model below that one yesterday....... i5 6gb 640gbHD andddddd it was, wait for it..................... $379
i tried to do a store pickup and shit wasnt even ready after two hours. gf who took me to the store was pissed, oh well.
Midas, both are pretty damned bad... just some things are worse than others.
I need a laptop $300. Any suggestions?
Is there a single deal worth it on Black Friday..besides a 42in LCD TV for $200.... If you look hard enough you can find deals year round....
i shopped around and jumped on things that i thought wouldnt be beaten by black friday deals -- one of them being the video card normally being 360 but its 220 with 20 mail in rebate.
^ that's why I'm still looking lol.
heads up for you guys on a budget. men's wear house has this $500 topcoat going for $150 with coupon code CKFRIW
Nice thread, it gives me ideas on good, if not the best, deals for this Christmas.
^ Link that shit kid.
what are your guys' thoughts on refurbed laptops?
I bought a 160 gb ps3 with 2 games for 199.99. Already put it on ebay for 299.99
Talk about arbitrage
Bought 2 Toshiba 17.3 inch laptops (crippled i3, 500GB, 4GB, HD3000 - Sandy Bridge variant) for my developers/designers. Going to Ebay the ram, and get 4x 4GB sticks.
yes because saving a few hundred is NOT worth sending something in the mail :P i have no issue and never had any issue with refurbs.
this was my original sentiment, but I've noticed that the warranties for refurbs are from 3 to 6 months.
I ended up doing the exact thing I tried not to do - getting a lap top that wasn't discounted.
also, I went from 15.6' to 14'.
Got the Lenovo E420 - at $630 total.
I would def say I overpaid, but at least I can sleep at night.
specs:
i5-2430M 2.40GHZ 4g ram 750 gigs no glare (huge consideration) intel hd 3000 graphics - pretty shitty card but I don't play video games, so... and a 750p hd cam
what do you guys think? should I cancel the order?
One thing I found out afterwards, they made the function keys secondary i.e. you have to press function, then F1 in order to actually get F1...
I just realized that I probably don't play video games BECAUSE I always get computers with shitty cards...
haha yes u cant really run shit on that :P i always make sure i get a decent card in my laptops esp since at 1368 by 768 or whatever you dont need a high res on a smaller screen and dont need a god card :) looks decent? i think you could have found a better deal though.
these guys either fuck you on the processor or the video card...

^
I have no clue about amd processors. are they decent? how does that one compare to an i5 2430?
im sure tthat the i5 is much ebtter but just saw that for a very quick to go 300 dollar laptop :)
Hey, do you know anything about the battery life on that one? I think I might go ahead and get it.
probably around 4 hours.
op's comp pretty beastly for that price ^^
I got my laptop for college for $450, haven't seen anything like it yet in that price range lol. I'm eventually going to stick 4 more gigs in it for $30 and the nice thing is the processor overclocks to 2.2 ghz pretty safely. The only con is the screen is average to subpar and the webcam is horrid. It's my first asus and loving it, I've tried new games on it and runs at solid 30fps on medium-high settings. I still don't get why people shell out 1200+ for macbooks....
Asus k53Ta AMD A6-3400M Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium AMD M780G Chipset 4GB DDR3 1333 MHz 15.6" 16:9 HD (1366x768) LED Backlight AMD Radeon® HD 6720G2 1GB DDR3 500GB Super-Multi DVD 4 -in-1 card reader 0.3 Mega Pixel web camera Integrated 802.11 b/g/n Battery 6Cells : 5200 mAh 56 Whrs
For people buying laptops, I'm pretty sure amd proc/gpu (apu) gives more overall power than intel i3/i5 with integrated gpu, although the i5 > a4, a6, and a8 in terms of pure processing power.
If someones looking for a decent, cheap laptop when deals are over, the below has great reviews/decent specs at a low price although HP consumer build has one of the lower reliability ratings. (there was also the 14 inch one at the same price not sure where that went)
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+Pavilion+Laptop+/+AMD+A-Series+Process…
Also, would anyone recommend a tablet/should I even buy one now? I was thinking maybe the kindle fire, but I feel like prices are going to drop pretty soon with iPad vs kindle and to be honest my dorm doesn't have wifi so I'm not sure how I would use one...
^
your processor rated at 3,548
mine (i5-2340) at 3,480
on the cpu mark
you got a really great deal considering your video card is dedicated.
Where ever I look, it's an either-or choice I have to make - fuckin bull shit.
Check out these laptops if you guys are searching, they are all from 400-650 mostly asus and lenovo so good build quality + specs at around the same price range. They are all from newegg, so I don't know whether you would buy online or not.
