I’m doing dry January so no drinks for me. Played poker last night and in a competition in the Loncar homegame to win a $2,650 ACR Venom ticket and did pretty well with a 5th place finish of about 150 people. Whoever gets the most points over 16 home games wins a $2,650 ticket to a tourney (Venom) where first prize is $1M. Brian Fite knocked me out (poker pro) and he got the most points. I knocked out Loncar (poker pro) last night which was sweet.

Spent time with the family today and will probably play more poker tomorrow and watch Loncar stream on Twitch.

Maybe it's just me but I heard "$2600 ticket for ACR Venom" and assumed the prize for winning the poker tournament was a ticket to a charity raffle for a particularly hot Dodge Viper.  "Viper ACR Venom" definitely sounds like a thing. (ACR = American Club Racing) It took most of the post for me to realize it was another tournament.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Haha oh ok yeah you could probably buy 5 Viper Venoms if you win the ACR Venom…

Gun range today.

The important thing is never to let oneself be guided by the opinion of one's contemporaries; to continue steadfastly on one's way without letting oneself be either defeated by failure or diverted by applause.
