British Terms

What are some english terms a person in finance might encounter working with someone from across the atlantic?

Some random ones that i can think of are lift = elevator, flat = apartment, biscuit = cookie.

I read a recent post where someone used "the same" to mean something just mentioned, i can understand it but its not something i would think of using.

I've also met someone who complained about going to a "mission resturant" where mission apparently means far away - because missionaries used to travel far to spread religion. That wasn't so intuitive and at first i just thought the guy was weird.

I'm sure there are other terms that can cause confusion even though its all english, anyone here from U.K. care to share some?
