I’ve seen a lot of discussions about taking a shot before an interview to loosen up a bit—what are your thoughts on other substances that can calm you down like CBD oil/gummies?

Blaze it before the interview. Loosen up and don't worry you're not taking a drug test. Medical use is highly recommended.
I'd be lying if I said I never ripped a few hits before a phone interview. Calms the nerves and lets you talk like you're speaking with a buddy. Still gotta be a professional though.
CBD has absolutely no psychoactive effect, which means that the calming sensation you may feel is the result of placebo.

THC does have a psychoactive effect, which is why it gets you high in the first place. CBD does not, and research regarding its potential against anxiety is only at the preliminary stage.

I'm sorry you fell for the marketing meme of CBD. Since it is extracted from the cannabis plant, people will tend to associate CBD and the relaxing effects related to the consumption of weed. But that's just a marketing trick, as nothing has been proven. At this point, you'd feel as calm if you were sucking sugar pills while believing they contain CBD.
The only proven downers that can be used in interviews are alcohol (if on the phone), benzos, and propranolol (which isn't a psychoactive compound, but a beta blocker).
Never done it myself, but it does seem to help my dog's arthritis.
Effects of CBD are very subtle. For one, you don't get high off of it. But you do feel relaxed. It can also make you low-energy so be careful of that.

"CBD" is probably the best thing that happened in my life. I myself live in a state where marijuana is banned (unfortunately). I'm really waiting for the moment to dump where drugs are legal and smoke weed with my kents. What else does a simple black guy need for happiness? Lol. And so. The laws in my state are just shit. Don't they understand at the top that the grass only makes us feel better? But it doesn't matter. Thank God I found the site. where CBD products are sold. Now I get at least some dose of marijuana. Although therapeutic, but it suits me. The site is great and the prices are small!

I bought a bunch of pre-rolled CBD joints for my camping trip and found them to be really weak. CBD oil is probably the way to go.
