Chicago is so whack I don't get what the big deal is
Umm ok so Lake Shore is nice so is the Wacker and Michigan Dr.
That's about it. If you go north it's cramped and the roads are terrible and the infrastructure is all brick and mortar lacking in contemporary architecture. Then there's this Egypt like setting with alien hordes everywhere who clearly stick out like a sore thumb.
Then if you overshoot Downtown on the way down from the North you end up in the South Side which feels like a replica of the inner abysses of Somalia or Congo.
People do not stop at the stop signs and at every corner there is some African-themed dress shop making you wonder if you're really near the Canadian border or somewhere in the rainforest canopy of Sub-Saharan Africa.
The only thing eclipsing this misery is cold dark rainy glum weather.
It's a wonder anti-depressive tablet manufacturers do not claim this city as their prime geographic territory for banner sales.
Willis Tower is nice and that's about it.
Hopefully you are just visiting - sounds like Chicago isn't the spot for you.

Chicago is cool to visit (for the first time) but the thing about Chicago is once you’re outside of the city where are you going to go? Wisconsin? Indiana? IOWA!?

Chicago is a pretty big city (3rd largest as a matter of fact). How often do you need to venture outside of Chicagoland for anything?
And if it's that imperative, Chicago has one of the world's busiest airports to get you to where you need/want to go.

People embracing their heritage and entrepreneurial spirit to service their community and invest in “less desirable” parts of town? To me that sounds like the American dream at work, no different to the Chinese take out or Greek pizza parlor. Maybe the city lifestyle isn’t for you if you can’t handle diverse communities. Very based and Chicagopilled post. But i've really liked it when I have been. There's an extreme degree of separation from the good areas and the bad areas. You can basically look at a map, cordon off the areas where the crime lives, and then avoid the crime.
