Chicago Summer '25 Housing

Hi,

I am planning on interning in Chicago for the upcoming summer. I wanted to know what budget should I realistically look at? UIC housing is what I am looking at, and I am not sure how much would it cost for 10 week internship, I am budgeting around 3k for the entire summer internship. Please help a guy here saving for tuition thx

Based on previous WSO threads, here are some insights for budgeting your summer internship housing in Chicago:

  • Budget Consideration: For a 10-week internship, budgeting around $3,000 is reasonable. This translates to approximately $300 per week.
  • Housing Options: UIC housing or similar college apartments can be a cost-effective option. Previous users have found numerous postings in the $400-600/month range on platforms like Craigslist.
  • Cost Breakdown:
    • Housing: Expect to spend around $1,500 for the entire summer if you find a place in the $500/month range.
    • Additional Expenses: Consider other living expenses such as groceries, transportation, and utilities.

This budget should be sufficient for a modest living arrangement in Chicago, especially if you can find a good deal through college housing or sublets.
