Yeah. I haven't done them in-person before, wanted to ask proper etiquette. It definitely is a dumb question, just want advice haha

Just got a fucking decaf if you don’t want caffeine. Jesus fucking Christ

Establish dominance by not getting anything and pay for their coffee. Bonus points to stare at them as they awkwardly sip their cup.

Anyways, when I was in banking I always felt awful when kids paid for my coffee. The poor kid probably has $30 in his/her bank account and 50k of student loans. While I was over here debating if I should get Gucci or Ferragamo loafer (I went with Ferragamo and don't wear them much. Stupid purchase imo)

I don't mean to hijacker the thread but is the standard to pay for the analyst coffee? If I accepted a coffee chat I would usually pay and if I didn't feel like paying I would just call the kid instead of go out. Is that pretty standard or was I the weird one?

in my experience during recruiting for SA, I would generally briefly offer to pay, and then the analyst/associate would say that it's fine and they'll cover it. Or they'll just ask me what I want before I can even offer. But in the end the analyst/associate would always end up paying

get a cup of water with whipped cream ... I call it "a conversation starter" hahah please do it....

Get a lemonade, smoothie, iced tea - literally anything else

I would avoid straight water as it's kind of odd to have a coffee chat over free tap water but no one will even blink if you get a non-coffee drink
