Is it their buy-side or sell-side division? If it's sell-side, you're siloed in NYC and just doing traditional SS ER work (iirc), whereas if you're actually on the buy-side team, you're in an investing role and the work is similar to traditional hedge fund investment work. If it's buy-side, I'd definitely take it, that's a great gig and I heard the pay is great.

Dude you're a high school senior? Most high school seniors are delivering pizza's or mowing lawns. Any finance internship will really boost your resume. Don't know much about their ER department, however I went through the sell-side ER interview process this year at SIG and the associate I interviewed with was smart and chill. Seems like a no brainer if you are interested in hedge funds, as the experience will be very relevant I'm assuming.

Didn’t even catch that you were a high school senior. Buy-side ER at SIG is super solid for a pre college internship - there are many who’d be happy to take that role full-time. Make sure you have the finance knowledge to perform at a decent level though.

Agree with above poster if it’s buy-side take it. If it’s sell-side i’d still take it. Their Bala office is pretty nice, if youre buyside you’ll be staffed there, sell-side is NY (they had a purge in early-mid 2019 for their sell side ER, like 30-40% of whole teams). You’re a privileged high school senior, take advantage of the opportunity you have and don’t worry about dollars & cents when it comes to starting your career. If you want to go there and impress people, know your game theory and download poker apps and apply that theory there.
