stuff looks like it takes forever to type

It’s like an HR position for people with no real skills that’s subsidized by companies trying to virtue signal

our diversity teams:

- create new programs for URMs

- adjust existing programs based on internal/external feedback

- check on latest legislation regarding minority inclusion

- follow national news to get a better understanding of race relations and how they affect certain industry aspects, perceived or not

- approach colleges where (more) minorities attend in order to understand whether there is the possibility of cooperation

- check internally whether (on average), minorities are paid less and report to SLT

this is a new team we have

Gumball3000

- adjust existing programs based on internal/external feedback

Breaking news, at 50% URM (irony) representation, your company is still not woke enough.

- check on latest legislation regarding minority inclusion

Also read "privileged" minority disinclusion.

- follow national news to get a better understanding of race relations and how they affect certain industry aspects, perceived or not

Aka coming up with some random BS rational written by someone on Medium instead of actually researching shit.

- check internally whether (on average), minorities are paid less and report to SLT

Also known as data manipulation. All of a sudden some janitors are counted being underpaid minority employees. Gasp.

In 2020, Wage gap is mostly a myth. You do the same job, you get paid the same in most industries regardless of who you are.

thanks for the feedback. just wanted to clarify that these ideas are not from me, this team does not work for me and I have nothing to do with them directly.

But I understand that different people have different views on this.

I work for a European company with (almost) zero minorities working for them and with very conservative, Christian views. to be clear: in the past, if you weren't a White European you wouldn't be working at my company. they are trying to change that, as impossible as it may seem.

Europe is such a different animal compared to the US. some of it is cultural, some is just the fact almost no minorities live in EU nations. (not all of the EU looks like London).

because HR jobs are not seen as "real jobs" compared to FO positions.

Dude, HR jobs ARE real jobs!!! Do you realize how many hours per week they spend working to make our lives miserable???

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

I gone to a diversity meeting recently by curiosity. Diversity means recruiting women's (Yes : 50% of womens in earth so why are they 0,5% in top management, top job ?).

I gone to a diversity meeting recently by curiosity. Diversity means recruiting women's (Yes there are 50% of womens in earth so why are they 0,5% in top management, top job ?) . What was interesting is that when you interview a girl the most technical question is " What is a call options ? "

My first job in finance was absolute BS. Once, a year or two in they made us go through a 'workplace violence' seminar with outside instructors and everything. They went through various instances of workplace violence and disciplinary actions for each. Then about 45 minutes in they said "committing suicide in the workplace is an act of workplace violence." and skipped the second part. I couldn't help myself: My hand shot up and I asked "What are the standard disciplinary procedures against an employee that commits suicide in the workplace?"

Given the fact that they answered with "moving on..." I'm very happy I got out of there.

Oh yeah, you told this story in another thread before. Fucking hilarious, still makes me crack up!

Banks hiring what otherwise would be unqualified candidates exclusively from minority backgrounds so the bank doesn't look as bad when they're caught laundering money for drug cartels and processing funds for pedophiles.
