Its bitter sweet, but I just accepted a better job offer (going from a no name to a MM bank). I guess this means I'm going to have to retire my old firms gear and my faith firm Patagonia :(. Do firms give out gear to new lateral hires or is that just a perk for SA's and first year analysts?

I mean unlike for classes of hires, they probably don't have stuff set aside for lateral hires. If the groups give out the swag, I'm sure you'll get some. If it's HR at some intern pow-wow, then I don't think you'd get any. That said, don't be afraid to ask...you are an employee there, after all.

Will do! obviously it's not a big deal, but being small and everything my current firm was pretty stingy handing things out. It would be a cool plus to cop a piece of merch at the new shop
That's weird imo, at previous places I've worked they always gave out free stuff, I have like 3-4 nice water bottles from the same company.

At the place I'm leaving I got a nice firm jacket that I left at the office bc it was cold af and I would like get one so I don't have to spend money and buy something thats going live in my office drawer

I used to work at a tech company and we could send each other virtual rewards for doing a good job and you’d go onto this site and pick what branded company gear you wanted (shirts, jackets, coffee mugs, bags etc.)
It seemed cool at first, but then when you settle in and start to hate the company, it’s just ‘meh’.
I lateraled to Moody's and got a folder, while all the campus hires got backpacks and other swag. When I asked HR for company gear, they said there's no budget but we would love for you to speak at your campus and represent your school. I ghosted that clown.
