Do you guys get tired of reading through hundreds of emails every day? Not sure why but lately I’ve been getting hundreds of emails on outlook everyday and many of them don’t seem to be stuff I can address but occasionally my asso or vp may ask if I came across __ email and would get upset if I don’t know what they’re talking about..

you should skim through every email top to bottom to determine if it's relevant. the reason i say top to bottom is that sometimes the email would read:

"[stuff seemingly irrelevant to you]

[your name - can you please look into xxx?]"

and it won't look good at all if 3 days later your team checks in on this and you say "what? oh i didn't read that email. i'll do it now."

it takes 2-3 seconds to skim through the email and determine if it's relevant to you.

also - i struggle to believe that as a junior you'd get hundreds of emails to your deal team / you, excluding the recurring subscriptions (like firm-wide content or news alerts), everyday. that's likely a peak day.

i know an MD who actually gets hundreds of emails a day (from clients, from deal teams) and always replies to deal teams within one day if working team has questions or materials requiring his review (he'll at least say "i'll review today / tomorrow"). But I also know plenty of MDs who have 1/3 chance of reading your email unless you follow up.
