Does anyone also not F*ck with their co-workers?

Want to know if its common in banking as with me not F*ckng with your co-workers? I literally only speak with other analysts/associates only when I have to.

Everyone is so clicky, kisses ass, gossip like bitches, come from certain backgrounds (I'm a minority so we have nothing in common), and etc.

Any one else feel this way? Particularly other minorities in the corporate world?

Yeah. I still do the light chatting and stuff and occasional conversation, but in general the topic and depth of discussions are not the same as with the work homies.

Based of the post I think this might be a you problem though. You're right though, fuck those guys, especially the gossipers, but  you need to try to be a normal adaptable person. It'll make work a bit more fun.

I do admire your conviction.

It seems it really matters to you:I'm typing to you as a minority's minority.

I can agree with you here that it is difficult to establish the same bond with your co-workers as you have already done with long-time friends from school, family, etc. When it comes down to it, you're essentially competitors fighting for your pay. It's nowhere near the same relationship.

But the way you're phrasing this post makes it sound like you're the guy getting bullied on the school playground. Snap out of it and at least try to communicate, regardless of your race, background, whatever.

I think your problem is that you isolate yourself for just being a minority. Not everyone is racist and it isn’t wrong for you to assimilate to the culture of everyone else on your team.

Note: I’m a minority.

Most offices are snake dens, and it's in your best interest to keep work and social life separate. Tbh I always thought it was pathetic when peoples best friends, groomsmen, bridesmaids, etc. were coworkers. Just shows you the strength, or lack thereof, of their previous friendships. Not much quality there.

Only exception IMO is right out of college in an analyst class. Great way to have a core group of close friends in a new city to do things with. But unless your work conduct and social conduct is the exact same (making you either a complete square or clown, pick one) then things done in one setting will be held against you in the other
