You've heard of drunk texting? Well, last night I did one better. I "drunk LinkedIn connected". After a long day and one drink too many I requested to connect with the CEO of one of the biggest real estate private equity firms - only about $40B AUM. He accepted this morning, probably wondering who the hell I think I am. Lesson learned: don't get on linkedin if you've been drinking.

I don't even think this is that bad. I always throw a request to someone high up at a company I'd work for. Why not, you have nothing to lose and potentially something to gain
You know, people used to wait in the lobby of buildings to meet somebody. Now you're worried about adding somebody on LinkedIn? Bro have some balls...send him a message. He will either just ignore you or respond, he's not going to go out of his way to ruin your career. He has better things to do than that...

Some might be ok with it, but I would bet most would ask why you didnt find them on linkedin or send them an email or something.
I don't want to work for them, I don't know why I connected with him. Actually I'd really like to work for GS, but I'm pretty sure sending David Solomon a linkedin request wouldn't do much good.

Did this and sent out like 250 requests once, don't know 99% of them. Think my drunk mind thought something cool would happen if I got the 500+ connections
haha! I know the feeling. I finally got to 500+ the other day. Nothing exciting happened but in my small world it feels good to be in the 500+ club. As long as they are quality connections.
