Dyeing hair in 'client' facing finance?

Currently in college. Would dyeing my hair hurt my chances of getting an internship/full-time role?

Obviously a dumb question for 'normal' roles, but finance and it's cliental is generally full of conservative individuals who perhaps may see it as unusual?

Would like to point out that I am thinking about a mix (e.g. part blonde, part my natural brown) if this makes any difference.

Make it look natural - it shouldn't be a problem.

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Based on the most helpful WSO content, it seems that the finance industry, especially roles that are client-facing, tends to lean towards a more conservative appearance. This doesn't mean you can't express your individuality, but it's important to consider how you want to be perceived in a professional setting.

In the case of dyeing your hair, it might be best to stick to natural hair colors, especially when you're just starting out and trying to make a good impression. Once you've established your reputation based on your skills and work ethic, you might have more leeway to express your personal style.

Remember, the goal is to be remembered for your skills and work performance, not necessarily your appearance. So, while a mix of blonde and brown might not be too outlandish, it's still something to consider carefully.

However, every workplace is different and has its own culture. It might be a good idea to get a feel for the company culture during your internship or early in your full-time role before making any drastic changes to your appearance.

As long as it looks natural there shouldn’t be an issue, but some older clients might have a problem with it. People tend to want their finances covered by someone who looks the part, even if that doesn’t inherently affect your skills & knowledge. It’s “risky” but I don’t know how risky - it also highly depends on the quality of the hair dye job

As a girl who recruited last year for IB I was actually given the advice to dye my hair blonde as a natural brunette. Do with that what you will
