Energy trading interns

Hey to everyone from europe, I'm a freshmen in industrial engineering and through a job at an energy trading company that works as a pool company of 80 european local utilities I am getting my first sight into energy trading. Mainly i applied because it pays 1 k a month for a 60 h per month job and sounded exciting, but it has got me considering the possibility of exploring the energy trading business as a career field. In my second semester I will intern in the front office, right now I am in the middle office doing natural gas market research for traders and help with developing strategies. It's still early in my studies overall, but I want to get a better picture of what it takes to get into that field after graduation. So please excuse my "newbie"ness. So my question is about internships in the energy trading field, in particular in the US. Monty posted a big list of companies that have analyst positions, could you offer your opinion on which ones offer good Internship programmes ? I know the European players, but i have lived in the US for a while and would love to do an intern in Houston....

I think when the time comes I would love to talk with you about the application processes if you would like, from first sight it seems to be a lot more structured and formal than what I experienced at European UTL's.. But I don't want to pester you, it's still at least half a year until my first real intern application, just wanted to ask. If we happen to meet in Houston i will pay you back in as much Hacker-Pschorr beer that fits in my case.
