Long story short, FBI agents posted messages on 8chan pretending to be white supremacists and calling for violence and used them as evidence in a legal proceeding. How do we know that? They took screenshots of those messages, but didn't realize that when you respond to your own messages, there's a "(You)" next to your post ID. When people started noticing that and went through the archived discussions on Archive.org, the FBI promptly managed to get the archived content deleted. That didn't happen with Archive.md.
