Extended Stay for Summer Internship

Has anyone done an extended stay for their internship?  Are there any other cheap options?  I figured $45/night at an extended-stay hotel is much better than anything else I could find. The office has a gym and will probably be there most of the time. Commute to office is 40 min bus.

Will really appreciate any input! Thanks.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, considering an extended stay hotel for a summer internship can be a practical option, especially if the price and amenities align with your needs. Here are a few points to consider:

  1. Cost Efficiency: At $45/night, if the extended stay hotel offers amenities that reduce other living costs (like a kitchenette for cooking), it could be more economical compared to other housing options in high-cost areas.

  2. Commute: A 40-minute bus ride is relatively moderate and can provide some downtime or an opportunity to catch up on reading or emails. Ensure the bus schedule aligns well with your work hours.

  3. Amenities: Since the office has a gym, you can save on gym memberships. Additionally, check if the hotel offers free Wi-Fi, laundry services, and other utilities which can further offset costs and add convenience.

  4. Alternative Options: You might also want to explore sublets, shared apartments, or looking into areas slightly further from work but with cheaper rent and good public transport. Sometimes, local universities offer summer housing at lower rates.

  5. Networking and Socializing: Consider the social aspects. Staying in a place where other interns live can provide networking opportunities and a support system.

Always weigh the pros and cons based on your personal circumstances, budget, and preferences.
