Feeling Broke

I know that this post has been harped on many times in the past, but definitely feeling crunched after bad bonuses + HCOL areas. I think that the combination of being squeezed for time and constantly worked makes it tough to start a side hustle, better plan / diligence for investments, etc.

However, I did notice that there seems to be a never-ending supply of new graduates and students chasing the route that ask for coffee chats, networking calls, etc. Have any of you ever considered monetizing these calls? Let's be honest our time costs money and if it is a call with someone who has nothing in common with you (school, background, etc.) would you be more incentivized to take them? I think it could be beneficial for both parties but would like to hear thoughts on this.

The mentor program on WSO charges for calls.

No, I have never considered charging broke ass college kids for the right to talk to me.

Seems scummy.

You’re literally advertised as charging for time on here:

I think it’s a fair price.  WallStreetOasis.com asked me to be a mentor, haven’t signed up yet, but I thought about it.  The price is just a gatekeeper to get the mentee prepared.  Why pay $ when mentee can research a bunch of stuff for free.  But when the mentee is ready to talk with a professional, that time is better spent because you exhausted the free research. Can talk about specifics about you and best angles.  That’s totally worth it.  There are a lot of visitors to this site, so some filtering is good.

Do you not work in finance?  I don't understand the post, at all.  The problem isn't with your bonus or the cost of living, it's with your expectation for what you should be making and what makes you feel "crunched" or not.

If you work on Wall Street, there is no reason at all you should feel any strain on your budget unless you spend an outrageous amount on, well, everything.  Which means the issue isn't your pay, or inflation, or cost of living, but your own inability to control your budget.

It is frankly kind of insulting to the millions and millions of people who genuinely have trouble affording necessities that you're sitting here complaining that your six figure salary at 22 isn't sufficient for your lifestyle.  Get off Instagram and understand that the real world isn't full of people taking $40,000 dollar vacations 3x a year to exotic locales.
