Found out my company is being sold

Morning all - I've recently become aware that the partners in my firm (mid-size private equity firm) are looking to sell the firm. I'm fairly certain this is the case as they already have an adviser working on this, but I concluded it mainly from some correspondence that I've seen (legitimately) which ultimately tied in with the way some of the decisions have been made in the firm in the past 1-2 years. I don't think anyone else at the firm knows.

This would not necessarily be negative for me, but the uncertainty and the fact that I am sitting on this information is pretty unsettling.

I'm considering approaching the partner I work with a lot and being straight with him, trying to figure out how this could affect the firm and my career.

Any advice - was anyone in a similar situation? Would you just stay silent and wait for this to be announced or would you approach the management honestly?
