Almost all of my gfs had cats and, while I never had a pet on my own or grew up with them, they left a very positive impression on me.
Cats are a lot easier to handle than dogs, but they still require a lot of time and effort. It is not a great idea to have a cat alone when you are never there, it would be easier as a couple. Just to keep the pet mentally safe and entertained. Banking hours or >9 hours are not acceptable for a cat in solitude.

There are a lot of things I didn't know about cats, like what their body language means, how many different meows there are and how big the vet bills would be. I also learned that cats need their teeth brushed regularly.

All in all, I recommend a cat if you have the time as a couple or if you are able to spend some quality time with the pet. Not great in IB if you are never available.

sooo basically get 2 cats in this situation

What kind of time and effort does a cat require?  You have to feed them but they literally go to the bathroom on their own.   They are very independent animals.

It depends on the cat, they are all different.
But you'd have to brush them, clean them every once in a while, spend time with them, clean their litter box, play with them, feed them, make sure they have water, etc. Some of these tasks are not daily, but some are. Cats also like to spend time with humans. daily playtime is about 15-25 mins daily, and then just being there for them.
Some cats are very active at night, so if the owner wakes up easily, this might be an issue.

We had cats that were entirely independent, but others developed mental issues after being left alone.

Some cats like to spend time with humans while others do not.  For the most part, their view of spending time with humans, is to sit where your sitting.  They will rollover occasionally but most cats do not like to be picked up

Cats basically do nothing but sleep all day and eat. My cat sleeps basically the entire day then shuts its brain off and goes crazy at 3AM like all cats do. They require very little maintenance unlike dogs which need to be taken out every few hours to pee/poop, need to be walked regularly or they go crazy and destroy the house. Also, cats are super easy in an apartment. I love my dogs, but I really wish I only had the cat

would definitely recommend getting 2 if you plan on getting cats so they can keep each other company. I work at a hf and have good time to spend with my cats but I also wfh majority of the time and plan to do that going fwd. Generally cats can keep to themselves and just eat shit and sleep. Make sure you get one of those automatic timed feeders so they get food on time. If you do end up getting cats, make sure you adopt from a local shelter

I have two cats. One is thoroughbred and the other is street. My thoroughbred is not at all affectionate, but street on the contrary! It's like he's grateful to me for taking him in and feeding him every day. If you want a thoroughbred, then choose carefully, as I have it with character.

I have a client who has what looks like a cat.  I saw this animal moving across her desk and thought it was a cat.  It is actually a bengal, which looks like a tiger.

The most important thing is to have a desire, but you can always find time, especially if it concerns a dog. Pets require a lot of attention and care from the owner, but still, it is not as difficult as many imagine. You still need to deal with this issue more thoroughly since excuses can always be found. If you want a dog, then go to your goal no matter what. I've always dreamed of having a guinea pig, but my mom is allergic to them, and I couldn't do it. But now I live alone, and my wonderful pet lives in my house. If someone also has a guinea pig, then I advise you to read the article https://pawbility.com/can-guinea-pigs-eat-blueberries /, since I, for example, did not know that blueberries are not dangerous for them

It's great to see that you're taking this kind of question with a great deal of seriousness. Many people take cats and dogs into their homes, forcing them to starve or endure poor treatment. We, too, wanted a pet and spent a long time researching the habits at topcatbreeds.com. We read the literature before getting a cat. And here, choosing the breed that will not give you problems - in terms of care, nutrition, and vaccinations is important. People usually get cats from catteries. Therefore, it is important to check the animal's health and consult a veterinarian.
