Ghosted by Referrals

This has happened a few times now where I’ll: 1.) See a FT opening, apply, and reach out to bankers 2.) Finally get someone on the phone, have a good call, and get a referral 3.) Get ghosted by the person to which I was referred.

How exactly am I supposed to get into processes if I can’t even get on the phone with people? Can someone provide insight?

Do you mind sharing how you're getting people on the phone? I've tried messaging on Linkedin and email and either never hear back or just get told to send my resume to them.

For FT openings, I’ll usually reach out to only juniors. My intro email is below:

Hi xxxx,

My name is Name and I am a student at [state school, honors college], pursuing degrees in [business degrees]. Since [date > 2 years ago], I have been working remotely for boutique, a boutique investment bank located in New York City. During my time at boutique, I gained transaction experience and obtained my Series 79 and 63 through the firm's broker-dealer.

I came across your LinkedIn profile after applying to [position]. I would love to hear about your experience working at bank. If you have some time to chat in the next few weeks, please let me know. For your convenience, I've attached my resume.

^I’ll usually change the second paragraph depending on any similarities in backgrounds or if I’m reaching out to multiple people in the same group on the same day.
