Going Solar - Worth It?
Hey guys, good morning. Has anyone put solar panels on their personal homes? I signed a contract with SunRun to lease panels from them for 20 years. Haven't been installed yet and I'm thinking of backing out. Their selling points are: -Nothing out of pocket. You pay them a fixed rate ($29/month for me for 97% of my usage coverage. They look at your usage and figure out how many panels you need) and pay ComEd just their $15 connection fee if you don't use anything from them and their normal rate if you have to use their network. -Locks you into a $/kW rate while ComEd is going to keep going up -$1,200 cash incentive for switching (from Comcast) -If your system overproduces (particularly sunny month), you bank the credits for gloomier months -They guarantee their system to 95% efficiency throughout the 20-year life and will credit you annually for any underperformance. I mostly just went with it for the cash and to have a pretty solar roof 'cause my ComEd bill is rarely over $50, but now I'm wondering if having this as another thing I have to deal with is worth it. tl;dr: How hands-off is having this system? Thanks!
GoldenCinderblock, bummer your thread hasn't had a response yet. Sometimes bots are smarter than humans anyways:
