Guys: Social Life for a Female Banker

So I'm starting as a front office analyst in a few months. I definitely don't want to date/hook up with anyone on my team, or even in my division if I can avoid it. However I have met some of the guys I'll be working with and there are definitely a few I would like to get to know (hehehe).

So can I flirt with and possibly date/hook up with a guy at work without getting a reputation or having rumors flying around? I figure that since there are a small number of attractive women in the front office that people would be more likely to talk if they got with one.

Also I like to go out clubbing and drink and all that. Usually when I go to clubs I just see groups of male bankers. Does anyone include their female colleagues when they go out or do you not want them to cockblock? (By the way I have a firm no cock block policy, I hate that shit).

If you hook up with anyone at work rumours will get around and you could get a bad rep, depending on who it is.

Best to hook up with someone away from your office. Unless you are working in my office then I can't see the problem, especially if it is me.

I think you should settle yourself into the position before you start seeking. Give it some time. Get to know people and establish yourself as a non slut before you go after people. If the guy pursues, than go light at first until you figure out how things are. I'm still in college, but as far as including girls into the bar group, I love it. Who wants to be with a bunch of other guys? If the girls are cool they add an unique dynamic.

Don't listen to these fellas... I am older than you, so listen carefully to what I'm about to say. If a guy is HOT, attack him. Just play it safe and wait until the last day of your internship though.

Such advice was shared with me when I was your age and I thought her a fool. Now I realize she was a wise sage :-)

In order to make protect your reputation at your firm, PM me and I'll hook up with you.

I see, full-time... well, that certainly complicates matters. Oh what the heck, I guess my advice won't change. But, that's an awfully long wait to the last day of your 2Y stint!

Perhaps you should take BSD123 up on his offer... he seems honorable.

Eh well I guess I'll just control myself then.

But guys, what about clubbing/bars with female coworkers? Yay or nay?

We always took girls out with us -- its like high school except the ratio is now screwed up.

if you factor in the dorky guys not going out + girlfriends / girls guys are seeing + cool female bankers you get a good little mix going.

I doubt this is typical of all groups tho -- just mine.

yah, life shouldn't be this complicated. im sure you can understand what actions are/n't appropriate. its all a trade off. you get to hang with the dude, but at the same time, your rep might be at jeoprady. learn the culture of your office, then you can mak the correct decision

Rddunfie hit it on the head...You probably should think twice before acting on your latent (or perhaps visible) lust...

makes life easier, just like "don't screw the crew" when ur flattin

but then, u know stats are like 50% or some high figure of people met their spouse at work

fp....

I'm still waiting for you to make me feel better after our fight....

Don't listen to all the 'playas' on here - stick with what you know best - a British born g/sta

I hate to post the same thing for my first two posts on here (I mostly lurk), but...

This thread is useless without pics.

Our advice would be much more particular and detailed if we knew exactly what we were working with here.

Thanks.

Do you really want to be riding the same elevator day in and day out as a guy you hooked up with? No... I don't think so. But hey, you never know. Just make sure he's from a different group.

Haha no pics of myself, clothed or nude, face or not. But I'll give you this much: I'm 5'10", a 34C, and wear a size 8.

I see what everyone's saying. I'd rather be the cool chick who hangs out with the guys than the one who hooked up with one guy and now gets gossiped about.

I've been to a strip club once; I wouldn't mind going again but wouldn't make it a regular thing. I know it's unmodern but I am pretty much 100% straight.

fp's trip to the strip club was when she was the act.....

Am I right fp?

With those stats you'd do well.... bet it pays as well as your starting....

And I should point out first of all that I'm a guy..... this is a bad idea FP, there was a girl I used to work with who was keen on one of my new collegues - and got politely (to her face) turned down...... she gets mocked by everyone all the time now, I'm sure u r a tough cookie and all but why cause yourself extra bother - anyway I was a little disappointed that when I became a trader rather than girls becoming more available my standards just went up, girl-homeostatis.......... (bit OT I know)

BBand...there was a girl I used to work with who was keen on one of my new collegues - and got politely (to her face) turned down...... she gets mocked by everyone all the time now

Ouch.

What do you think is worse:

  1. a guy at work tries to get with me, and I go for it

  2. a guy at work tries to get with me, and I reject him

For some reason, I think that the second situation could turn out to be a nightmare as well.

There's one girl here who's soooo good looking it's painful and pretty much everyone has tried it on with her - senior guys laugh at the parade of junior wannabe BSDs queuing up at it doesn't reflect badly on her at all - she's also hard as nails.

Remember u always have the exit strategy of guy goes for u and u sue the company - again OT, and not to this extent, but if you're british u will find ur self being out flanked politically all the time by your european collegues.....

Yeah the answer is pretty obvious. If you want to be seen in a professional light dont do it.

If on the other hand you are a glorified essex girl whois sole intention is landing herself a guy who earns a lot then go for it.
