Hey all, I'm from California, and I go to Caltech.

I'm keeping an open mind about which desks I want to be on. I don't know enough to say for sure what area of trading I enjoy the most, so I'm just hoping I get placed in three completely different areas so I can start narrowing it down.

Are most interns planning on living in the NYU dorms this summer? Is that generally considered the easiest place to live for the summer? This will be my first time in New York, so I'm trying to figure out how all this housing stuff works.

I believe that most interns stick to NYU dorms if possible and some use EHS or similar services. It's kind of difficult to arrange a sublease for the summer if you don't have connections in NYC and a bit of luck. I was able to sublease a nice apartment in Midtown West last summer for an internship, but it was a lot of work and a lot of money. If you do try Craiglist or something, be wary of high fees and be careful.

So yes, most interns use NYU because it is the most convenient and their dorms are a decent price. Happy hunting and I'll see you in a few weeks.

Hey everyone, I'm a student at UNC, majoring in business. I'm looking forward to meeting with everyone in this group. Excited to learn more about the different desks during sell day to figure out my choices (does anyone know when this is?)

Regarding housing, I think NYU and EHS are great options for the summer as well as Marymount Manhattan and New School, but NYU's August 7th date can be an issue. I think our internship ends on August 14th, but not 100% sure. If so, finding a place to stay for a week can be costly. Kevin, were you able to work something out with NYU's housing advisor? I'd greatly appreciate your insight.

I was actually talking to Bear about the sell day. I'm pretty sure a woman from HR said it would be April 16 but I was honestly too caught up in the excitement of the offer to write anything down. She said they would be sending out more information.

I don't know exact dates, but I am anticipating a conflict between NYU dates and the internship schedule. I am lucky enough to know some analysts around the city as well as the kids from my school who just got FT offers. I'll probably be sleeping on a couch for the week. I've heard that NYU dates are very strict so I didn't even bother calling them. I'm still waiting on my ID number, anyway.

It looks like the group is already up to 10 members. Good work, Bear. I'm still pretty curious as to how large our class is.

TradingChic- Originally I was going to stay at the NYU dorms, but after doing the math I think I am going to try to get into the New Yorker Building with Educational Housing Services. I have stayed with the company for the last two summers and I really enjoyed it. I am going to stay in a lofted double because on the of best parts of the city is meeting people and having a roommate is a good way to do that. Also, I have found that I am really never at home so the size of the room doesn't matter at all. I also do not want to be bothered with moving to a sublease for the last week of my internship. I have done that the past two summers and packing and moving so many times in a short period is a drag. PM me if you have any specific questions about EHS that the e-mail we got today did not cover.

Hey all, I'll be coming over from MIT - I think there are four of us total.

I'll be staying with two other MIT interns also in the New Yorker Building.

I have no idea what desks I want to try out, but I'm probably going to do two trading rotations and one sales rotation. I have a conflict on the sell day (April 16th) so I won't be able to make it.

Is anyone planning on starting a facebook group for this? We could probably reach more interns.

I also heard during the interview stages that the summer class was going to be ~150. I have no idea if that was just for S&T, or also for IBD/GCM/other front office.

Hi everyone, I'm actually interning with Capital Markets but I figured I would join seeing as there will likely be interaction within the groups. I'm from Lehigh University and will likely be subletting an apartment for the summer, our next step is coming in on April 16th and 17th for overviews and placement interviews.
