Downtown is fun on the weekend but really dies on weeknights. Hard to even find a fast casual place open after 4pm.
Would look at Midtown if I were you, especially if you are looking for a downtown-ish feel with a lot in walking distance. Make a rectangle on bagby, gray, travis, and elgin and look in there (skew to the north a bit, some spots just outside bagby are good too. Do Not skew to the other side of main, travis is probably a good stopping point).
Hope you're gonna make good money because a 3 month lease for 1 person is going to suck.
I know of a couple other interns that are going to be in the area so hoping that will help price wise since we'd be looking at about a 3 bedroom. This does help a lot though!
If you would rather save some $ at the expense of walkability, look along W Dallas and Allen pkwy.
Washington street from Montrose to TC Jester also good.
I wouldn't stay downtown. Would stay in midtown/rice/Washington (the heights) village if I were in your shoes.
The Houston suburbs are 100% the place to be. The Woodlands, Katy and Beaumont are blowing up and great for interns. That being said if you ain’t O&G in Houston you a chump

Look into Post Midtown Square, in midtown, near all the bars and not expensive. - You get what you pay for but all in all wasn’t a bad experience the time I spent there.
