Pure curiosity as the current sophomores are ramping up networking and I have been receiving a bunch of emails. I dont find it annoying or anything, I just think it can be a bit of an unfortunate, transparent process sometimes and dont pay it much thought. Probably partially because I didnt intern in the biz/do all this.
- Do you talk to everyone who reaches out? Do you decide based on resume? Depends on mood?
- Do you ask them any serious questions? How do you gauge interest?
- Do you refer them to other people at the bank if they ask?
- Who do you give a referral to? Just the ones that impress? What if they are 'with it' but come off as too try hard?
- Do you get annoyed when they send you random WSJ articles three weeks later?
