Insights on RBC Financial Sponsors group in NYC

I know that in 2015, RBC poached Matthew Stopnik, former head of US sponsors at UBS. Word on the street is that Stopnik has an unbelievable relationship with Apollo, but not sure what other PE firms he has relationships with.

Questions: 1) How large is the team (how many analysts per class?) 2) Does the group do its own modeling or does it hand all the technical portions to M&A and Lev Fin? 3) How is the culture? (team happy hours, mentorship, etc) 4) Are senior bankers open to PE recruiting? 5) Exit opps (examples)

On the side note, it seems like RBC has been poaching all the heavy-hitters from UBS in the last couple of years (head of sponsors, head of m&a, some healthcare, etc). Thoughts?

I have never heard of a financial sponsors group that handles modeling (limited FSG experience though). Would be curious to hear if any FSG at a noteworthy does financial modeling (not "transaction analytics").
