Intros

Hey guys,

Since this is a networking group, I figured we should all just post a little bit about ourselves. That way people with common interests can PM each other.

I'll start... Current senior in ECE. Going to be a quant at an AM/HF next year. Interested in connecting with alumni and classmates.

I was going to wait till we got 20 or so people before we did this, but mine as well do this now. I think it would be best for now if we post College, Year, internships/jobs (if any) we have held including firm names and department you worked in, if you are comfortable with that, where you want to work in the field(IB, PE, HF,prop desk), and then one non-finance interest/hobby you have. Then people can PM and maybe, and this is once we have talked a little bit in a more anonymous setting and feel comfortable, we can set up a get together somewhere, maybe even the Cornell Club!

CALS, AEM graduate, 2010, worked as HFP boutique/mm investment banking analyst for summer internship, want to work at a hedge fund in the near future, enjoy poker and am enjoying the current season of 24 for those who watch it.

Hotel senior that just graduated early in December 2009.

Worked at a boutique bank last summer and signed full-time with Barclay's Capital for IB to start in July 2010. I am more interested in the fixed income side of the business (TA'd two courses in Securitization) due to its mathematical approaches, and considering the leverage finance group at Barclay's. I'm also thinking about fixed income research down the line.

I love to play poker (Hold 'em) in person and on-line, and a big tennis fan and player.

----------------------------------------------------------------- “It's all nonsense. Firms use titles to pander to the egos of the employees without giving away the store. If you are getting the money, who cares about the title?"

Graduated '08, commercial real estate analyst briefly, laid off, been looking to get back in since then. Really sucks. But I'm not gonna act like Cornell wasn't a fantastic place as far as career searching. If you're a student there I recommend keeping a close eye on OCR listings - and ANY time you find a Cornell alum online (or anywhere) at a firm you'd want to work for, do not hesitate to talk to them. It's not rocket science and they've been super cool in my experience.

Hmm.... as far as a non-finance hobby, a friend and I recently built a Facebook app (+ site), partly for fun and partly for the possibility of making money.
