Is an Jaguar F-Type douchey

Hi all - so I’ve got a fair bit of disposable cash each month (I’m doing ok) and considering leasing a new car (leasing as works well for me tax wise).

I’m considering a Jaguar F-Type would that be considered too douchey? I remember a guy in here posted about getting a Maserati Gihbli and he got shat on for it. So thought I best asked to get an idea.

MM got shit when he posted about his Ghibli probably because the people he lives around know he is MM, not because of the car. Anyway, considering the F-Type is $82K I would think you get get more elegant cars (even sports ones) for about that much or less but it depends on what preference you have; sporty or classy. My choices over the F-Type would be:

Sporty:

  • Porsche 718 Cayman

  • Lotus Evora 400

More Elegant:

  • Maserati Ghibli

  • Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

  • Lexus GS F

  • Mercedes AMG C63 S Coupé

Personal preferences so feel free to disagree. But to answer your question, it isn't that douchey

They are fun cars but not great for the money. Would rather spend more and get a Porsche 911 or m3 as those yield more bang for buck. Btw the jags also have absolute trash resale.

Maybe grab a certified used Porsche 911 with warranty and sell it in 1 or 2 years while it still has another year on it. My business partner did that and didn't really lose much money for the 2 years he kept the car.

Never driven one, but the one thing I'd say about the F-type is that it is IMO one of the most beautifully designed cars since...well, the E-type. I can more than understand why many buyers would weigh that enough to opt for the jag over an objectively "better" car. Also, when you get to that level, I find splitting hairs over performance is kind of pointless unless you're going to the track regularly.

As for douchey, it's about how you flaunt it and how you treat it. You can be just as douchey in a lambo as you can in a low-rider civic with a loud exhaust.
