Is IB salary enough to provide for 2?

Canadian that just received a FT offer to work in IB in NYC starting in a couple months. My gf and I have been dating for 2 years now and we're both very traditional (keen on me being the breadwinner while she stays at home, she currently works part time).
I'm not a US citizen so the firm is sponsoring me and both my gf and I don't want to do long distance. My question is, is it feasible to have her come and live with me in NYC, and support both of us with solely my income while I work there (will be making standard EB AN2 comp). If anyone has done this before, would appreciate the insight, thanks.

First off Canadian who wants to get the fuck out of Canada. How are they sponsoring you?? Is it TN? H1B?

You're going to have no savings on your base salary if you live anywhere halfway decent.  The person who said you'd be fine on $110k doesn't know what they're talking about.  You're looking at least $3k/mo rent and 40% taxes, that leaves you with ~$25k of your base for a year's worth of food, internet, utilities, nights out, clothes, and other expenses.  $25k doesn't go particularly far in NY, so bank that bonus.

I'm traditional as well, and the moment my fiancee has a kid, I would prefer her not to work (and so would she).  That said, she works rn, I don't have a problem with it, and it's the only way we have any real savings.  After a couple of years in NY, I'm looking to gtfo and start being able to meaningfully save while living a better lifestyle.

I come from down in the valley, where mister when you're young, they bring you up to do like your daddy done

Can she not get any job? Like a part time nanny, event planner, etc.? Like I get the traditional thing but idk what she's gonna be doing all day in a tiny 1 bedroom apartment. And in banking you'll be eating a lot of meals in the office anyways. If your base is ~110, her bringing in ~30 would be a big help.

110k post taxes and 401k is more like 65k, which is ~5500/month. A decent enough 1 bedroom that would fit 2 people will probably be 3k. So you only have $2500/month left over for food, fun, savings, etc. If she were to make 30k, her taxes would be much lower than yours (because her income is so small), so if she takes home 24k/yr, that'll be an extra 2k/month net (even part time jobs at Target pay $20/hr). Now the $3000 rent is all the sudden more affordable!

And don't bank on a hefty bonus- plenty of people I know got stiffed this year
