Is London culture/lifestyle/city more American than European?
I think London is more similar to an US city than other EU cities. Culture, lifestyle, way of think business and architecture Your thoughts?

Yes I believe culturally very similar to the US. Much more than any European cities in my opinion.
I am British and I recognise much more lifestyle and cultural similarities when visiting major US cities (NY, SF) than with EU cities.
In terms of business. London is less hours than NY but more than pretty much any EU city.
London > rest of europe. Unfortunately Brexit will change some stuffs. But Brits have money thinking so I'm sure they'll find solutions
Agreeing
London wants to be like a US city. But that doesn't work with the crap rest of UK around it.

What if it's US culture that is similar to London?
Hours in London? (Originally Posted: 07/10/2010)
We all know the horror stories of analyst hours at BB's in New York and I was just wondering about the hours in London. How much can a London analyst expect to work per week? Thank You.
Interesting question to pose this close to the 4th of July.
Merica > EU
The same.
Exactly the same and this is in IBD throughout the world.
Varies.. M&A is the same. LevFin - slightly less - friends of mine are putting in 80hpw at BBs. Will depend on firm as well though - Jefferies is fairly unknown in London, for example, so if dealflow is low, I can't imagine the hours will be as punishing. I stand to be corrected though.
Bb.
I know somebody who was working at Jefferies in London as an analyst, only lasted a year because the NY guys were trying to do a big push into the European client base and hence ended up really wrecking the analysts. He moved on to boutique work..
exactly the same than in NYC
I would say slightly better than NYC but not much.

I will be working for an MBB consulting firm in London next year as a first year -- was wondering what the culture/nightlife/women are like in London.
Thanks
...take a trip there during spring break! It's a great city.
You've just opened up the floor for annoying debate.
I've lived both places and love both for different reasons. I'll just go through with your question.
In New York you get the hottest women from all over the US that move there. In London you get the hottest women from all over Europe and the hottest south asian women you'll ever see. I think that one is a toss-up because native Brits offset the gains.
It is awesome being a foreigner. You are much more approachable and you are always a conversation starter. Be a polite American (assuming you are American?) respect people around you and try to fit in as much as you can and people like you. Don't be a douche and start talking British if you aren't. It's not so often you can walk up to a bar in your native country and say, "Can I have a beer?" and the girl standing next to you says, "Hey, where is your accent from?"
Food, I give the nod to New York.
I felt as though work life balance was better in London.
In general it is hard to determine which is better, but I'd move back to London in a heartbeat if that shows you anything.
Have fun!
