No, its not a Rolex, but I have student loans and bills to pay so I am not going to drop that kind of money this early on for a watch. Please let me know if you know of a better watch/brand for around this price range (300$) or if this watch will cut it for now.

Watch looks fine. You might want to look at some Seiko's. Quality is probably higher for about the same price. Some of their diving watches are really nice.

probably doesn't matter at all, but i always wear one. it's part of the attire, however insignificant.
That thing is too flashy for a cheap watch.
If you are going to get a cheap watch, it shouldn't be something that draws attention.

Seiko has one that looks just like that. Great watch, I believe you can get it automatic also. A lot of watch aficionado's rave about it. Reasonable watch, but it will show you are in the know if you come across a watch guy (in IB there tends to be a few watch freaks).
You guys sound like the bankers from American Psycho. I don't think anyone will care about the watch you wear in an interview, unless it's a) ridiculously flashy (think Gucci Mane or Birdman or some other rapper), b) nicer than the MD's. Points will not be deducted if you are not wearing a watch.
Your right that 95% of the time no one will care. That being said, if I was interviewing you I would notice what watch. I wouldn't ding someone or anything, but if someone had a nice watch or a unique brand I would bring it up. My whole point is if you are going to spend $250 you can get a conservative watch, actual movement and if you run into someone who is into watches they will know you are someone with taste. Odds of this happening are slim, but you never know.
That watch is fine. Nobody will care as long as it doesn't attract too much attention. You can even get a watch for $100 if you want.
No one gives a crap. I wore a Jos. A Banks suit that was 170 bucks on sale, no watch (because you have a cell phone which should say the time), and a crappy portfolio I have had for ages. I interviewed at BBs, have superdays, have offers. Again, no one cares. You are at the bottom of the totem pole. You are better off wearing that than a Patek.
look up tokyo flash. get one of those if you feel ballsy.

That Tissot is a nice one for that price. I would personally suggest buying a TAG Heuer (in $600-800 range).
Seiko is a cheap Japanese watch. Tissot (Swiss) > most Seiko/Citizen

If the person looks unprofessional and will reflect poorly on my group, I would not hire him (i.e. if he is wearing clothing that looks ridiculous). Otherwise, it doesn't matter much.
You should check out ebay. There is some ok shit there cheap, eg:

This post is just ridiculous. While I agree that an unprofessional-looking interviewee receives an automatic "ding," wearing Jos A Bank does not mean you look unprofessional. It's really all about fit -- if the suit fits you well, it won't matter if it's from Jos A Bank, Brooks Brothers or made-to-measure. Jos A Bank may not wear as well (it won't last as long), but I've seen plenty of people wearing Jos A Bank suits that look just as professional as someone wearing a $2,000 suit. Just get the thing tailored.
Also, that Tag looks far worse than the watch posted in the initial post. While the Tissot isn't terribly fancy or expensive, it's simple and classy and works perfect for an analyst.

No one cares, I think you have entry level employees telling you how important watches are, no one making hiring decisions gives a sh*t. At an investment bank everyone can buy an expensive watch, it just shows how you like to spend money, nothing more. No one cares about a Jos A Bank suit either, no one will know unless they take your jacket off and look at the label. As some others said, you are entry level, no one cares about you and they certainly don't care about your watch. The most important thing is that your clothes fit you correctly, an expensive suit that doesn't fit makes you look like a fool, a cheap suit that fits will go unnoticed, that is what you want.
I've worked on the buyside and sellside and I've never heard someone comment on the clothing of a junior employee other than comments about clothes not fitting properly.
Why does everyone jump to the conclusion that this person is looking to buy a watch to impress anyone.
OP asked for opinions, people gave them to him. That's fine you don't care about clothes, but if this guy is asking for advice a lot of people are going to give him quality suggestions. Just because no one gives a crap about what you wear doesn't mean it couldn't come up in conversation.
Answer the guys question and keep your rants to yourself.

dude honestly i assume you are interviewing for a SA slot and believe me nobody gives a flying crap what a summer is wearing on their wrist. the exception to this rule is if you show up wearing a rolex or another watch that is obviously above your pay grade people might think you are a d-bag.
the watch you selected looks quite fine and would compliment your professional attire while not drawing negative attention. i personally wear a huge seiko dive watch. cost around $200. My boss wears something pretty flashy.
also imo jos a bank is absolutely 100% fine to wear to the office. i agree with many in this thread that tailoring is far more important than price. even a very inexpensive suit will look great if it fits properly.

A simple, understated, watch of good quality will do. If firms hire based on the watch your wearing.....
