Is WSO the most educated online forum?

Before I get into the nitty gritty, by most educated I mean "MOST EDUCATED PER ACTIVE USER"

Think about it. Pretty much every active user has graduated college, and more likely than not, a T30 school. People like to split hairs about who has better placement, Michigan vs. Northwestern, but at the end of the day both of those schools are really the cream of the crop when you consider how many people pursue post-secondary educations globally. Many active users also have graduate degrees, MBA/MSF/etc. I'm sure there are super niche, low-user count forums, but adjusted for size WSO has got to be one of the most educated forums out there.

If this is the most educated online forum, our world will be days from crumbling to pieces…

Wait till it does. I’m the mother of all bubble here to destroy all the growth premium

There are forums for doctors, lawyers, real estate professionals, etc...

now.. is WSO the biggest industry focused discussion board.. probably. But I don't know it.

There was a more scientific view on this a while ago, hopefully I can find the link to that article. It discussed where most academics spent their time online.

Other forums to consider:

- Top Law Schools

https://www.top-law-schools.com

- Wilmott (Quants)

https://wilmott.com

- Student Doctor Network

https://www.studentdoctor.net

I don’t think WSO beats out the doctors and lawyers.

Pizz you win that award.

I’ll be laughing to the bank when my UV shorts sellout. Just 10min per day of exposure. Of course we will do independent testing to show how much of a difference they make.

I just think it's a very funny off-the-cuff retort to the question of is this the most educated forum. And I'll also laugh my ass off along with you if your testosterone juicing underpants are a runaway success.

I think WSO is the most educated unless there is some STEM focused online forum that has as many users as this. The closes would be The Blind forum and there are quite a few bankers on there as well at least 40%.

I also wonder if we have the highest net worth and income per capita of any online forum.

Funny enough despite there being a lot of retards on here, including myself, I like how WSO is and the fact its not popular. I don't want there to be a flood of new users from the general public turning this place into 4chan or reddit with hardcore leftist or righwing views.

I'm a leftist but still the arguments I have had on here against my ideals, despite name calling, contain some of the most thought out and well explained points of any forum or internet website I have visited. Honestly Kudos to Andy and WSO team for maintaining this platform for so long.

It’s called GitHub

I’m not too sure if stack counts as a traditional forum. You go there to get a problem/question answered and that’s about it. Now a lot of people have a lot of different questions, but I’d be fairly skeptical you could recognize more than a handful of users (who are retired profs with not much else to do) and even then you’d know nothing about them save that they answer your questions.

You could replace the name Stack Overflow with Quora and this would be the exact same (and brilliantly correct) description.

I'm finishing my masters this May with a NYC offer in hand, and I had issues with a "child-locked" container yesterday so imma say no

Reminds me of when the national park rangers talked about how difficult it was to design trashcans due to the "massive overlap" between the dumbest humans and smartest bears

HackerNews definitely by a long shot, just because any relevant news or discovery or intellectual feat will make its way there and then you can expect the highest level of quality commentary / dialogue. Someone shares an article about anything and someone in the comments ends up being like "yeah I worked on the first X in the 90s under Professor ____ during my early PhD days ... " lol.. and somehow there is zero trolling zero low quality posts, etc. It's simply amazing that place still exists and functions the way it does. As for the fact it isn't a real discussion forum, there's the "ASK:HN" and "SHOW:HN" threads where you can ask whatever question you like and you will likely get the best most tailored answer ever and you can also show your work, either a project you're working on or your newly funded startup, etc.
