AsatarSomehow I'd count CEO as front office, maybe that's just me.

Nice retort, but all I'm saying is he's never done any IBD, S&T, PE, HF, MBB stuff. You know the type WSO fawns over.

Corp Dev in MS/GS is not exactly considered FO. Don't know about JPM.

Aside from HBS, he does not meet the WSO prestige requirements in terms of work experience. But he did prove Brady partially correct by getting a girl at HBS.

The best generals never fought in the front lines. (Few exceptions. Lloyd Blankfein, Alexander the Great)

Jamie Dimon would be equivalent to Augustus. Never fought in the front lines, but knows all about war by hanging around his adoptive father. Daddy groomed him to lead from day one, even when some said he was too young for all that power. Turned out well for all Augustus and Dimon.

Yeah, here's an excerpt from wiki:

'... During the summer's break at Harvard, he worked at Goldman Sachs. He graduated in 1982, earning a Master of Business Administration degree as a Baker Scholar. After graduation, Sandy Weill convinced him to turn down offers from Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Lehman Brothers to join him as an assistant at American Express. Although Weill could not offer the same amount of money as the investment banks, Weill promised Dimon that he would have "fun". Dimon's father, Theodore Dimon, was an executive vice president at American Express. The younger Dimon came to Weill's attention when Theodore passed along an essay that Jamie had written.'

And the rest is history. Without his daddy, I bet he would definitely take the FO offer at a BB. Rich/resourceful daddy is God's gift to any ambitious young man.

JamesHetfieldI think Eisenhower never really fought in any battle, nor did Patreaus. I like the historical/military link you made. History major?

Thanks mate.

History major? One would think so, but sadly I am not. Finance major. But I grew up in an academic family, and for me, history just hits the spot.
