Gotta ditch the Mac buddy, trust me your life will be much simpler. Also, big fan of the latest Logitech bluetooth keyboard + mouse combo.
Agree with the above... these days you can get a very solid Windows computer for $800 or less, no reason to be toughing it on the Mac unless you are like a college freshman
That said I like the mechanical keyboards - Varmilo, Keychron, and Leopold all have great options. Just be careful of which switches, blue are too loud for an office setting for example
examples of very solid computers for $800?
For IB purposes you don't even need to spend $800... You're using Excel and PPT, you're not running the Command Center at the Pentagon.
That said, Chromebooks and ThinkPads are cheap, customizable, and effective. Dell XPS 13 can run around that low if they're bare bones. I spent a few hundred more and was able to get a souped XPS 15 which has been an amazing investment.
Edit: didn't see this was for computers, but even so, buying a docking station and plugging in an XPS works just as good in my experience.
Lenovo Yoga, HP Envy with i7 chip, Acer Aspire (prob my last choice as a cheaper brand, but they sell a solid laptop for very cheap)
These all have a solid (i7+) chip, some decent RAM, etc and are under $800 on best buy right now. More than enough to run models on a VDI and not want to die.
I have the RoyalKludge 96% keyboard with brown switches and it works really well for IB and is easy to carry around in a backpack.
Logitech MX Mechanical + MX Master 3S mouse is a good combo, easy to carry, backlight, side scrolling for excel and other shortcuts. Also has an easy switch function if you are going between a personal and work computer
I've got a Keychron with Red Switches....love this thing.
