Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's important to note that medication experiences can vary greatly from person to person. For SSRIs like Zoloft, which are commonly prescribed for anxiety, the dosage and the time it takes to feel a difference can differ. Typically, a doctor will start a patient on a low dose and gradually increase it as needed. It can take several weeks, often 4-6 weeks, to notice a significant improvement in symptoms.

As for stimulant medications like Adderall or Ritalin, which are often prescribed for ADHD, the onset of effects can be much quicker, sometimes within 30 minutes to an hour after taking the medication. The dosage again depends on the individual's specific needs and is carefully managed by a healthcare provider.

It's crucial to have these medications prescribed and monitored by a healthcare professional, as they can advise on the correct dosage and manage any side effects. Self-medication or adjusting your own dosage without professional guidance can be dangerous.

Remember, this is general information, and for personal medical advice, one should consult with a healthcare provider. If you're considering these medications or are currently on them and have concerns, it's best to discuss them with your doctor.

Zoloft lowers your sex drive and gives you ED. Worth it?

Turns out it was investment banking that was making me anxious and depressed. Try to determine if you experience is situational before you do this. A doctor will not do this for you, they'll just give you a script.

Definitely believe it’s situational and thinking of just trying out medication for a short amount of time. Unsure how long it really takes for anti anxiety meds to actually show.

Took Lexapro for approximately two years due to stress/anxiety (related to life/health issues, not work related).  I found it *extremely* helpful calming a naturally over-active, rabbit-hole mind.  You're aware of what it's doing - but somehow - you're just at peace with it.  That said, I found my libido was reduced and that I was just too apathetic regarding most things while on it.  Tapered off of it after ~2 years.  I certainly support it for those who struggle with depression, anxiety, or anything in that space but know that it doesn't selectively address your symptoms, it's like a big wet blanket that takes off the edge in both good and bad ways.
