Men in finance, have you invested in any cosmetic procedures for work?
Guys of WSO, have you ever invested in either invasive or non-invasive cosmetic procedures to give you more confidence at work? Or to combat looking tired? (E.g. botox, fillers, hair transplants, microneedling...) And did it help?
Working on an article on this topic, would love to chat to anyone who has made this type of investment in their appearance for their career.
Invisalign, I suppose, but that wasn't explicitly for work.
IMO if you are relatively in shape, well-groomed, and wear clothes that actually fit you're already ahead of 95% of people out there. This only gets amplified the older you get too.
When did you get Invisalign? Good experience? Thinking of getting it.
Few years ago. Made a noticeable difference (assuming you just need a bit of tooth straightening and not a full on redo of your mouth) and you can put the whitening gel in the trays for extra impact.
Braces as a kid, bonds on my teeth as I got older. I also got my teeth whitened professionally once, absolutely not worth it. Home whitening does just as good of a job
Topical Finasteride/Minoxidil has been extremely helpful for hair loss, started before any bad hair loss began and has worked like a charm
Yeah I just started on Fin / Min, but didn't do it for my career, only for the girls.
Do you mean women or girls?
not on a regular basis, but my ex was a MUA & stylist who did makeovers for me up at work events. It made a huge difference.
hair, makeup/stylist for speaking engagements (300+ attendants), minimally-invasive beauty procedures, had botox a few times also. all of this mostly for work and it really has impact how people perceive you.
I'm looking for a man in finance
Jaw implants, nose job
Got the Michael Jackson transformation
Skincare is important
Girls who get Botox and fillers
No but I do use natural products in an effort to maintain good hair and skin. Retinol has worked great for the skin. I am convinced that using retinol has led to much greater facial hair growth. I was not able to grow that much facial hair until I started using it. I could probably grow a full on beard if I wanted do it. I am not opposed to cosmetic procedures but I do not really need it. I would love to get rid of the lines on my forehead, which I have had since being a teenager. This issue is more of a genetic defect and not really related to aging
Hair - anything without 50 chemicals and listed ingredients you know
Skin - I use curology but you could use any form of some cleanser, good moisturizer, and serums (depending on your goals). Sunscreen i hear is quite important as well
Face - pretty anti procedure (e.g., botox, fillers, any structural changes), but i did get some minor microblading
Body - eat well and exercise 3+ times a week. this is the most "simple" but hardest to execute day-to-day
Clothes - quite literally whatever fits you well
Miscl - vitamins, enough water, sleep to the extent possible, delete or limit doom scrolling
if you can do the above, you're probably somewhere in the 95-99 percentile
Working out - age like wine by avoiding alcohol and making sure the diet is good. Men should not be getting purely cosmetic procedures (dental is the exception)
Invisalign plus skincare routine. I used to do minoxidil/finasteride, but stopped minoxidil due to pets. I didn’t like finasteride (side effects). Went natural instead. I’ll shave from time to time.
Stay in shape - shave - dress decently goes a long way.
Need something for dark circles/ bags under eyes if anyone’s got any recommendations it’d be greatly appreciated
Sleep.
Ice.
Staying hydrated.
