Milton Friedman Speech

I understand these videos are long, but they are well worth it. Donohue tries time and time again to stump Milton and he not only provides excellent answers, but answers that could not be delivered more eloquently. It is shocking that nearly all of the topics covered in this debate are still being discussed today. I lost track of the number of times I said "Fuck Yeah!"

Props to Happypants for bringing them to my attention.

Enjoy!

Period.

Forget the New Deal...the GREAT SOCIETY was many times more expensive

I also love the way Milton Friedman makes things easy for most people to understand...though I'm afraid sometimes he oversimplifies things, but I always do agree with his statements even when he does.

There's more to a price than what's written on the sticker. Roosevelt's de facto destruction of the Supreme Court combined with the entitlement mentality birthed by the New Deal have cost America a lot more than any federal government social(ist) program du jour ever could.

EDIT: Shame on anyone with SB in tow for not hooking Gekko up for posting these vids. My mistake in that regard, stands corrected.

A brilliant man, who also had a humble and gracious personality. Very charitable (intellectually and philanthropically)

Not a political hack like Paul Krugman.

George Stigler (another great Chicago economist who focused on industrial organization and micro) had a great quote -- "All great economists are tall. The only exceptions are Milton Friedman and John Galbraith" (Friedman was around 5'3"; Galbraith was ~6'6").

Funny picture that goes with that quote.

LeveragedFiendMF is my idol. It's too bad that sentiment is lost in today's liberal vs. tea party clusterf#$k

I was just amazed at how calm both men were. You could see Donahue getting frustrated because I think he realized he was losing, but both men didn't raise their voices and stayed calm....something that doesn't exist in today's debates.
