Moving to NYC for the first time. Any tips?

Relocating to New York City from a tier 1 west coast city as FT lateral. Plan to sublet the first month to give myself time to find a place and see it in person. Any tips you could share that you wish you knew before moving to the city? Not looking for advice on where to rent, but more so day to day shit that’s good to know while living in NYC
