Hey guys, so I'm just finishing up my spring internship at a small boutique and was looking to purchase a nice parting gift for the partners. Since they all enjoy drinking, I was thinking of grabbing a bottle of liquor in the range of $100-200. Do you guys have any unique suggestions?

Someone's going to say Bombay Sapphire
on your budget i would recommend "Macallan 18 YO" or if you want to stretch your budget a bit go for "Macallan 21 YO." That is some good stuff and people who like their spirits know and respect it. "Casa Herradua Seleccion Suprema" will do nicely if they like tequila. that's where my liquor expertise ends. either of those are bound to put a nice bow on that "we want you back full time next year" gift! :) good luck man
glenlivet 21 and mccallan are solid choices. But if you really want to raise an eyebrow, Japanese scotch issomething you might want to consider, (Hibiki Yamazaki or Suntory)
If they like scotch any of the previously mentioned options are good. To throw another in the ring, check out Highland Park Dark origins. A little below your price range but a relatively unique scotch.
If you want to stray away from scotch, look into Balcones. Its a distillery in Texas making some interesting high quality whiskey. Again, below your price range (a little), but certainly high quality and differentiated. Look for the texas single malt.
I've heard great things about Balcones from my buddies down south, but have yet to try it myself... Do you know of any places in NYC that might have it in stock?
Any of the younger Pappy van Winkle's would be excellent, if you can find them. Chichibu single malt would be my Japanese whiskey of choice. I second the Macallen 18 year, and for something really unique, go for the Del Maguey Single Village Pechuga Mezcal...

Off the top of my head, I know of three liquor stores that carry a some of their stuff
First Ave Vintner (54th and 1st) - Great whiskey selection in general as well Liquor store at 78th and 1st (NW corner next to diner) (forget the name) East Houston Street Wine & Liquor (Houston between A&B) - might have it; if not, they also have great selection of other scotch/whiskey and really helpful staff
What did the guy or guys you most want to help you out in the future drink most often? Buy the best, most unique and/or difficult to find of that. Any of the above suggestions are good but tailor it to that guy.
Now that you mention it, I do recall them drinking clear quite often. However, the office liquor cabinet does hold a pretty diverse selection between dark and clear, so I'm assuming they like both.

Problem with whiskey is that different people like it in different ways. Anything Islay is gonna taste at best meh and at worst like shit to someone who prefers Speyside.
How about going with something a little bit different? Ron Zacapa Centenario XO Rum is right within your budget, and I feel like it's one hell of a drink. Certainly blows the mind of anyone I've seen drink it who hears that it's a rum.
While MacAllan is a good choice, it's not unique. Scotch in general can be tough -- some people prefer highlands, other people like drinking from a peat bog. That said, the Japanese idea is cool if you want something different. If they are bourbon drinkers don't follow the guys advice above with Pappy -- it's overkill, and quite frankly not worth the price; you won't get a bottle (of 12) for less than $300 or so. Balcones is doing some interesting stuff, I would start there. I hate recommending this at the fear that people take my advice, but if you can find Colonel Taylor Barrel Proof, it will put pappy to shame (yes, I have had all of them). I understand this is coming out of Buffalo Trace. but I can guarantee you this is hands down the best bourbon for the price--in fact, it's one of the best bourbons period.

How many people are you buying for?
I would recommend Highland Park 12yr. You can get it for about $53, solid scotch. Smooth with a little smoke and slight pepper finish. If you are unsure of taste preference, Highland Park is a nice guess because it has something for everyone. You can find several reviews online.

I also love Lagavulin 16, but I would not give it as a gift unless I knew the person liked super smokey scotch.
Don't break the bank buying everyone an expensive bottle, buying a better quality bottle and being able to tell them why you got it shows a lot more thought than just dropping a bottle of Blue Label on their desk.

If you go the tequila route, Don Julio 1942 is a winner. This has always been a well-received gift by tequila drinkers from my experience.
Koolaid, preferably the purple kind. I suggest getting a packet or two from the early 80's as it will bring back memories of the good ol' days.
May I put in a word for Johnny Blue? It's at the top end of your price range and has become a standard high-end business gift when liquor is appropriate. A client gave everyone in our office a bottle last Xmas -- classy. It's also a really good Scotch, though there are others much cheaper that are just as good IMO.
Alternatively, you could get 5 bottles of Johnny Black for $200 ... do your partners enjoy drinking a lot, or do they enjoy a lot of drinking? LOL

We always crush bottles of Clase Azul Reposado (ceramic bottle) at the club but I think it would make a cool/unique gift. Can't go wrong with any of the whiskeys above but I would probably avoid JW and go with something more unique as a gift.
Just get ‘em some hookers. Real BSDs go out with a bang.

I would just stick for 40s of Steel Reserve, nothing gets a solid conversation going about your future than sharing a 40 with the senior partners. Price tag for 4 40s? ~$12

and for a vodka, you'll do well to stack up on Kauffman Soft.
Armand de Brignac is actually a very good champagne, but too tacky if you ask me. Krug rose is a great champagne, arguably the best on your list, but you shouldnt be drinking rose past 11 am, so if you're clubbing I would go against it.
Personally, I think Dom Perignon (especially the 1996 vintage) is a superior champagne to Cristal, but there's nothing like watching that gold bottle with 2 sparklers attached coming to your table. If you're a big boy, go with the jeroboam (or the mathuz, but only at Le Cave).
