Camden Midtown is fairly nice. I think there are a couple other Camden locations too, but not sure exactly where. Windsor has a couple on Studemont which are decent.
The Mosaic
Is Mosaic affordable on analyst salary? Looked like rooms were 2K and up/person
The cheapest rooms at the Mosaic are in the ~$1500/month range, but they fill up very quickly whenever they become available
A friend of mine is looking to sublease at 2121 AMLI ASAP.
good pool during the summer..lot of chicks
AMLI 2121 is a good place to live - definitely check it out. Super easy commute if you're working downtown too.
PM me if you want more details.
Post Midtown Square and Metro Midtown have a great location if you are looking for an easy trip to the bars. Post did just open up a new section that is a little quieter that you might be interested in. I know there are some nice places Downtown but I wouldn't recommend it, not a lot going on besides work.
I'll vouch for AMLI 2121 as well. Great location, nice apartments, and the pool.....cant wait for summer.
You're not going to be able to find anywhere "super nice" and close to downtown on 1500/mo for a 2br in Houston. The places listed are all in the ~2000+ 2br range. Check out Esplanade (288 to Downtown) for something closer to your price range and still good.
If you're set on the areas and pricerange you've listed (Esp is in the Med Center), try Calais (Midtown), Archstone Memorial, Metro Midtown (a bit higher than 1500/2br), and Marquis Downtown Lofts (Downtown).
Actually no everything here is in my price range except for Mosaic. 2121 has 2 bedrooms under 1000, metro is around 1200-1300, and windsor had 2 br for 1400/room
Thought you meant 1500 total, not 1500br. Hell if you're down to pay 1500/br, get yourself a townhouse on HAR. Can get MUCH nicer places then what you'll find at places like 2121 or Gables.
To the guy suggesting living in Katy as an analyst (assuming OP is an analyst), heck no! That commute is ~30mins in the AM. Nobody wants to do that as a Y1.
AMLI 2121 is nice
You also have Gables West Ave, but thats closer to 610 somewhat.
My other recommendations would be 2411 Washington, City Place Midtown, Camden Travis Street, Camden City Centre. All of these are good, but as I mentioned if you are willing to live in between downtown and the galleria, I'd recommend Gables in upper kirby. Really nice and posh area with plenty of bars/restaurants around.
Try searching out on I-10 towards Katy. City centre is an okay area and cheaper than inside the loop.
Try Post Midtown...decently nice and great location
Go check out the townhouses behind Metro Midtown. It's a better setup than any of the apartments and still walking distance from everything.
do you know what they're called
They're pretty much all owned by regular homeowners, plus a few by property management companies. You would probably be best off just driving around northwest of Metro Midtown and looking for signs. Make sure not to go on the north side of W. Gray, though. It gets into some less-than-stellar neighborhoods quickly.
Anybody familiar with apartments in the Wash U / Uptown (Galleria) / Washington area??

Anyone know anything about Houston apartments? I have been looking at some on Kirby in River Oaks area (Gables) and also Greenway Plaza attached to Costco?
Looking for a young crowd - though I must say that I am afraid that a lot of place in Houston are just going to be filled with a bunch of tatted up 30 yr. old meat heads / international students. Forgive my bluntness, but I am looking for a fun place to live with the kind of people you would in find on fraternity row.
I'm sure a complex attached to a Costco probably won't be "filled with a bunch of tatted up 30 yr. old meat heads / international students"
Not following your thought process here...
I think OP is homophobic
homophobic? That is quite a stretch - I simply enjoy being around a certain type of people (as most anyone does). I'd rather live in a place with a fun/young crowd of young professionals who have potential, rather than an apartment filled with people who are more concerned with their physical appearance / whether they took in enough protein last meal.
So you are saying people who care about the way they look have no pontential and are not fun? You are the dumbest fuck I've seen in a while. Good luck with all that.
WHoa there buddy - vent that anger. Obviously that is not what I am saying. I am referring to people who have "jobs" rather than careers - people who spend 2 hours at the gym everyday and are more concerned about short-term lifestyle rather than long-term goals. There are a lot of people in Houston like that and I'd simply rather not live in a place where there is a high concentration of that - is that so hard to understand? I'm not saying that I despise that type of person or that they are somehow inferior, I simply would rather not be around all that.
To be honest when you're in Houston you can't expect to find a neighborhood that's completely insulated. If you're from the east coast then you're not going to find the same type of "vibe" in Houston.
I would suggest you look into the West U area (I'm sure you've heard this plenty). I think anything on Kirby east of 59 would be nice for a young person.
I hope your car has good functioning air conditioning, you're going to need it.
Gables Upper Kirby. Lots of ex-frat guys there, less of the Ed Hardy crowd. Lots of energy bankers and other energy professionals.
.
Pm me. I just moved here and can give some advice
I think oldman is trying to say, and I agree, that Costco, etc, is more synonymous with a less unsavory crowd then aforementioned sub-humans.
So now a 30 year old "tatted up meat head" is sub-human? haha
Anyway, sorry for the above "rant". I'd definitely say upper Kirby area. You wanna be close to work and in a good neighborhood.
just stay away from the burbs bro
are you guys really arguing about this?
might want to change yalls relationship status to "its complicated"
^^Haha, that is funny yet true.
FYI, he's the catcher...I'm the pitcher.
