Guess that came out wrong. Just want to see who else is from my home state and maybe strike up some casual conversations in this thread. And most people I’ve met from Jersey (myself included) are kind of assholes.

LOL.  Dude, I lived in NJ for many years. A long time ago, I lived in Highland Park, NJ, which is fairly close to Edison.  I actually liked living in NJ better than my current state of PA .  The views of people from NJ are more similar to my views.  Even though I live in a metro suburb, we have a lot more backward people here than in NJ. One day, I might move to Princeton.

The two towns that employ the most NJ residents are?

NYC and Philly.

Honestly, if you work downtown the quickest commute to a place with a yard probably means NJ. You also get NY state taxes to likely zero out your NJ income tax. You will get raked over the coals with property taxes, but house prices reflect that.  Philly is similar, but it's philly wage tax vs. NJ income tax with PA income off the table.  You would be amazed if you knew the percentage of the people in my little corner of the industry who are intimately familiar with the state.

If you're expecting midwestern politeness, expect to be disappointed.  People are refreshingly honest compared to many places though.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.

Mr. E

I'm from E.O. Went to H.S. at LowerMerion and college in Philly. Currently in the outer Philly burbs close to Mercer County, PA. Jerz is better than PA, Philly included. Real estate in jerz burbs is a bitch tho vs Philly burbs.

Wait, you're from THAT one of the oranges? Are you my coke dealer?  I mean I'll jump off 280 in orange for good pastries, but I wouldn't be caught dead in east orange.

Hoboken here, aka patagucci central. Can guarantee there are plenty of other Hoboken people on this forum
