Good read on The Atlantic discussing the monetary benefits of spending more money on birth control.
Every dollar that our society spends on preventing unintended pregnancies produces us "savings of between two and six dollars," according to a new report from the Brookings Institution. The savings come from averting health care, child care, and other costs associated with unplanned pregnancies. That's a rate of return of 100% to 500%, making it one of the safest and most profitable investments anywhere.
Not exactly a tough sell -- unintended pregnancies cost us a fortune and contribute dramatically to the rising costs of healthcare, a problem that our society seems all-too preoccupied with. The author hinges the argument on paying our health insurance premiums...there being two problems with this: 1. not everyone pays health insurance premiums for various reasons; 2. I'm still paying for it, which some don't mind, but shifting pay to the private-sector from the government doesn't automagically make something "fiscally conservative"
What do you all think about this? Aren't the direct beneficiaries of this insurance companies in both the short and long-term, and not really the folks who pay?

Versus destroying unborn lives?
I'm not against birth control but economics shouldn't come into play when we're talking about the right to life.
Which is more important - human life or money in your mouth?
If society could save money by you not having been born, would you be OK with your mother aborting you? I'd hazard a no.
Money. We have 8-9 Billion people. Way too many.
I would be completely fine with being aborted.
What about after a child is born to an unemployed unwed mother? Would YOU pay for the child's healthcare, food, K-12 education, college education and so on? If your answer is no then people such as yourself have absolutely zero right in deciding whether a fetus can be aborted or not. It's better the fetus is aborted than endure a lifetime of misery.
I remember nothing of being an infant. If I was never born I would have no concept of what life would be. I would have had no memories, no friends, nothing to cause sadness or regret for leaving.
I would be a blank slate and would not care either which way. We project emotions and ideas onto people and things that have none.
If I had never lives I would have had no life to regret not living.
Also, the article mentions abortions and the explicit fact that investing in birth control from an educational and preventive standpoint will prevent them.
If abortions are going to happen anyway (be it legally or otherwise...like the ownership of guns, drugs, etc.), seems like the best way to "prevent" them in the soft sense would be to educate folks in contraception and such, no?
