Not from NYC, But Traveling to NYC for work. What do I need?

Just out of curiosity I have never been to NYC, but am going to probably be going there soon for work (Midwest Analyst)

Just out of curiosity What's one thing I should try and do while I am there?

And what is the Covid landscape like?  I am seeing that there is this Excelsior pass.  I would really prefer to not give my info to the NY government, but just curious if you have seen people using this/business requiring it. -> as another option I would be willing to just get a Covid test prior to going and carry the negative results for the duration of the stay.

You’re not vaccinated?

No one is checking vaccination status outside of a few clubs (because there’s a stricter eye on them)… and other than the clubs it’s pretty much exclusively a question of mask or not rather than denying you entry.

Most places just have signs saying something to the effect of mask free if you’re vaccinated or “we require masks for the unvaccinated only”. It’s all honor system, and even in places where it’s still required you’re starting to see more people just walking around without one and no one’s really saying anything

I don't understand your comment about not wanting to give your information to the NY gov. Sorry to burst your bubble but the NY gov, and all other states already have this information. The Excelsior pass is extremely simple to set-up, requires only your full-name, dob, date of when you got the second vaccine, and then it confirms this information against a database of people that got the vaccine. This takes 3 minutes to set-up.

Why ruin your NYC experience when there are a lot of clubs that check vaccine status, all for a meaningless cause since  NY already has the information you're looking to hide from them? Let's say they don't have this info, all the NY gov would be getting from you is full-name, dob, and vaccine status. Is this truly a lot of info? lmao

You're going to have to explain this one to me?

Yeah, but I would rather not have a registered information card with a state I am not a resident in.  Like if you take a vacation in New York you don't apply for a new drivers license. I know you may go that this is not a perfect example, but you get the idea.
