Office Temperature

Offices should be cold. The worst is during winter / spring when the heat is on. It’s 70° today and the heat is on - office is probably sitting at 71° or 72°. Too damn warm.

If I had a choice, I’d keep the office at 67°. A little brisk, but keeps you on your toes and awake. Anything under 69° is fine

Agreed

And it's amazing how few people get this.  One of the easy ways to know someone just sucks all-around: they think everyone else should be warmer because they're cold.

I'll let you take a wild guess where I'm about to go here. 74-76f...but with steady ventilation. Needs to be comfy, but not stuffy.

Might as well throw sand on the floor since you want to work in a tropical climate. I love hot weather and will go on walks in 100° weather, humidity be damned, but I cant do that with lots of clothes on

would like to work in a tropical climate, because that'd mean down in the Carribbean or South Pacific so I'd achieve two goals of better weather and more relaxed political and cultural climate too. Bonus: I'd get to achieve your goal too of maybe having sand on the floor. Oh, and before you try and do a run back, ocean breeze, aka the steady ventilation I mentioned.

Offices and Casinos are similar. They want the lights bright, the temperature cool, and they both want to take advantage of you.

I just wish the offices would follow the example of the casinos and actually follow through with this.  The casinos do in fact keep the room cooler because it is important for keeping people alert and busy at the tables.  I've not heard of offices doing this.  They should.

Yeah and also from Moonwalking with Einstein, they say that neuroscientifically the brain functions a little bit better with cool air inhaled through the nose.

Fuck the office.  Work remotely and set your own temperature.

8:2 and yeah women usually say it’s too cold but I think it’s been scientifically proven that they feel colder than us guys

Hate how we can’t wear polos when it’s hot in the summer tho

"Ultimately, our results potentially raise the stakes for the battle of the thermostat, suggesting that it is not just about comfort, but also about cognitive performance and productivity. Given the relative effect sizes, our results suggest that in gender-balanced workplaces, temperatures should be set significantly higher than current standards."

Study linked below found that women work best between about 70-80 degrees F and men were better under 70 degrees F. Just some food for thought. You aren't the only one in that office.

Nothing gets me going more than women complaining the office is too cold in the summer. Love y'all but we are forced to wear long sleeves and pants year round. Would love to be in shorts and polo analogous to a skirt and blouse but please for my mental health just bring a jacket into the office. Understand women have way bigger obstacles in this environment but let us have this.
