Omarova steps away from nomination

Good riddance to the OCC nominee Omarova.

The fact that this person was nominated is truly unacceptable and  demonstrates the incompetence of this administration. As an independent, I’ve seen enough. This could have been truly detrimental to banks and various vital industries. What are they thinking here?

For some reason my previous response didn’t go thru.  I don’t think this was just a question of regulation on banks. This was a candidate that published views regarding a takeover of community banks and the purposeful bankrupting of fossil fuel cos that then go under govt control.  If that doesn’t draw a red flag, I’m not sure if anything will draw a red flag.  It’s not just an academic exercise either, it’s clearly a real view of hers.
The admin is either stupid, didn’t do their homework or both. Independents are further disillusioned.

She worked for a Republican administration, so clearly she is not a radical of any kind.  She never advocated a 'takeover' of community banks, she argued for a public banking option to reduce the number of people without bank accounts in the US, something she would not have the power to implement.  She also advocated for governments to take over failed fossil fuel companies, which there will likely be many of in the coming years and this could pose a risk to the economy.  Once again, she does not have the power to implement this either.

The core issue is banking regulations.  They don't want to follow them, so they paid people to get her out, and made up lies about how a person who left Kazakhstan to study US Democracy is a commie spy.

How is she a communist?  If you took any immigrant from a communist country chances are they had to write something positive about Marx or Ho Chi Min during their education.
