opportunities for high finance roles in canada

hey guys I am a international student arriving to canada in spring 2022 to start my masters in economics at a top university (think mcgill,uoft,etc..) I am just wondering about high finance entry level roles in canada, whats it like to get an offer from a top bank (not specifically for IB but any other front office role), my previous bachelors was done in a good school and I have some serious stuff to talk about on my resume (decent work exp and extracurriculars) and I am planning to add on that at my time studying for my masters. Any advice on how to postion myself better on landing a job would be HUGELY appreciated. and please anything is a plus for me since its hard to find info about canada, thanks

I always give the same recommendations for people headed to Canada: the major pension funds there (CPP, OTPP, OMERS, etc) have what I consider the best “high finance” (I wouldn’t use that term in general) roles in Canada. They are sophisticated investors with a large amount of capital, so in PE or public markets they offer a lot of interesting problems (and they hire junior employees).
