Packing heat?
I'm rocking 2 sub-compact 9mm Glocks (26). Realistically, I think I would like to add a Kimber 1911 Ultra Carry II.
In case of the end times, I would like to add a:
H&K MK23 Benelli M4 Tactical H&k MP5 N H&K 416 or H&K 417
What's under your pillow?
Regards
I CANNOT say enough good things about the Kimber ultra carry series. My buddy worked for Blackwater and they offered to get him any secondary weapon he wanted. He got a Kimber Tactical II Entry. Soooo sick.

That gun is so awesome. I can't wait until I can just drop $1,500 at random on a pistol...or whatever for that matter.
Regards
Glock 19. Yes it is possible to own a gun legally in NYC.
I've always felt like Glocks were too plastic-y in my hand. I know they're great guns they just feel so, toy like. I don't know, personal preference.
It's definitely a personal preference. For the type of gun it is designed to be, it sets the standard. The Kimber Super Carry II sure looks the business though.
Been looking at Springfield Armory's Custom Carry, was thinking of something like the Pro model done but more to my specs. Really can't justify its price though so it'll be a while until I actually think of replacing my old .45 haha.
And yeah, the 416 is just sick.
Preparing for a zombie apocalypse cph?
Haha, yeah, you never now. Although, it's more likely to be a bunch of welfare recipients trying to break down my door when inflation blows through the roof and the government defaults on it's debt and can cut any more checks, lol.
Regards
This is my main concern as well. Assuming I stay in a gun-friendly state, I've got my eye on a Saiga-12

]Dude, I'm freakin' in love!!! If I had to clear a building I've found my new choice. Thank you for opening my eyes. That thing is crazy.

I love shooting 1911s just because of how the feel in my hand and pack a punch. I have a collection of them back home from ww2 a ww2 model through modern ones
still looking around at assault rifles trying to see what i want to get
Check out the H&K 416. That thing is probably the best version of an M4 available in the world.
Regards
If you want an assault rifle, you HAVE to look at Springfield Armory's M1As shit is sooooo nice.
For the deer: .38 For the birds: 12 gauge mossberg For the bears: 50 cal muzzleloader For fun in the woods when a friend visits: AR15 (there are not too many legal fun guns, even upstate) For 21st birthday: .357 revolver
Does anyone shoot at Westside? I may move to the city soon and while I don't think I'll have enough sway for CC in this lifetime, joining a range would be fun/nice. Whenever I bring up indoor ranges and NYC, Westside always gets enters the conversation.
Shooting an Uzi in NH was cool.
S&W 1911 is my favorite. I have a rifled sabot slug mossberg for deer (close range here in FL). And when I'm feeling nostalgic, a mosin nagant 7.62x54r.
I'm a member at Westside. I haven't been there in a few months as I've been too busy but it is a good place to be. The facilities are very simple but the people are more than friendly. In NYC, an NYPD license is needed to shoot a pistol; your upstate pistol permit is not valid. You can shoot a longarm without a license but NYC bans all AR/AK rifles regardless of name or type. The laws are way more stringent with respect to long arms being banned oddly enough.
You guys are lucky though, here in the Netherlands it's damn near impossible to own any firearms, unless under very strict regulation.
Having been at a commercial range a few times, I can say I am definitely a fan of the 1911-models, if it were only for their looks. Luckily, as I'm a reservist, I get to fire my Diemaco C7 (AR-15) regularly, I'm a huge fan of that thing... It's light, easy to clean and, like the 1911's, looks iconic.
Every (or should I say both) spetsnaz guys I have met came straight from central casting. Literally the scariest people I have ever met.
This might help some of you guys out that are looking to practice a little bit with your firearms and become a well rounded and informed shooter.
I've been able to experience the 2-day Defensive Handgun and it was alot of fun. Front Sight offers a variety of courses.
Check it out and enjoy!

Anyone else watch Burn Notice? Lots of shooting and guns.
I'm looking at the SIG Sauer for a first.
Yeah, I watch Burn Notice...though not as religiously as I used to. I love how he just explains to you why you need to do everything, lol.
Regards
anyone shot the FN scar? Those things look awesome, but pricey.
I hate SIGs
How hard is it to get a firearm in NY anyway?
The process is long and expensive relative to anywhere else in the US.
In reality though, the handgun license or long gun license is something that most New Yorkers can obtain with little problem provided the following two things:
Forget convictions and arrests, this isn't an HR background check. The NYPD's definition of a clean record is that you have never been spoken to by law enforcement for any reason either as a victim or possible suspect. The only exemption to this rule would be non-criminal traffic incidents. If your name comes up with a hit in the Federal or NYS system for anything you will need to explain why in great written detail. Again, this is also true if you were the victim of a crime.
Any hit is a ding.
This standard is eluded to in the official documents but never said explicitly. However, once "in the system" it was very clear that if my name was found for any reason I would have a problem.
The application process is designed so that the average citizen answering all questions at face value will do so incorrectly at some point. In fact, quite a few important steps aren't found in any official or verbal guidance by the NYPD.
Yes, it is possible for someone to get the license issued without an attorney. However, it will take 3x as long as you will be learning of the deficiencies in your application package only after a preliminary denial.
I invite everyone to ask questions as many here are probably NYC based. Law abiding citizens should be afforded their rights.
Thanks man.
My two daily carries are my Kahr PM9 and my Kimber Ultra Raptor II
I am looking at getting the Kimber Pro Crimson Carry II. Does anyone know if they come with both a left hand and right hand model. All I can see is the right hand model on Kimber's website. I'm looking at getting a CCW and want to carry dual Kimbers.
Yep, lefty models are typically custom though I remember some of the smaller manufacturers churning out a few back in the 90's. Check out Caspian, they might have a few lefty slides or receivers left.
Wait, are you actually serious? lol I'm a lefty too and I find the 1911 really easy to use, same with the other southpaws I've met.
Yeah, I was serious. But if you are a southpaw and it works for you, then I would be fine getting two right hand ones. I was just wondering, cause I would think it would be more comfortable with a lefty in your left hand. However, I don't really think it would make too big a difference, just was curious if they did indeed make left hand kimbers.
Hey man, when's your birthday? Thought you'd like some of these:

LOL
Great to see there are fellow weapon enthusiasts on the site.
My current carry (I live in PA) is a Glock 19. I also have a an M&P .45 full size for the house.
reviving the dead thread....
current carry is Ruger LCP .380
Home gun Sig 226 .45 as well as Remington 870 tactical 12 gauge
Laws in the EU are much more chill for hunting rifles and shoguns than handguns... so I own a 20 gauge winchester 101 xtr lightweight (mainly for fesants, rabbits, clay target shooting). For deer I use a 7x64 and for messing around I have a .22 long rifle, cheap but fun !
Any hunters in WSO ?
my advice; don't carry a 'nice' gun or one that you 'like'...it will get fucked up if you carry like it's meant to be. Buy a sweet target shooter and buy a 'get the job done well' gun unless you are the type to get a ferrari as a daily driver.
assault rifle = ruger mini14 tactical...you'll thank me when you NEVER have a jam and can carry for miles. These are most important with numerous full 30 round mags. highly accurate .223 round can get nasty quick with some varmint rounds or hollows.
forgot I joined this and haven't commented, im packin a rem 700 sandero SF II in .300 RUM with a leupold MK 4. Waiting on getting a nice mcmillian stock then will progress to doing action work and a nice trigger. Guns on my wishlist are a remington 870 and a cz75
just in case you need to shoot us from across the border lol nice distance shooters
lol oh yea, it could drop anything I want from ranges im not capable of shooting at... I'm thinking i'm gonna swap a nightforce for my leupold too
What is up everyone?
Current carry: Glock 19 with Comptac CTAC holser. I highly recommend that holster if anyone is considering it (or any similar from Comptac for that matter.)
I also have an M&P .45 but generally don't carry because of its full size.
Also thinking about getting a bump-fire stock for my Colt SP6920. Does anyone have any experience with this type of stock?
I like uncle mike's holster for my .38, i'll check out the comptac though
Picked up a Colt Mustang (vintage) recently and thinking about using it for carry. Any holster reqs?
I've always been a fan of Crossbreed holsters. They fit nicely on the belt and offer good concealment.
