Personal Laptop Recommendations

Need to buy a new laptop. Any recommendations? Looking for one with a good keyboard, and where the tech will last a while (i7 chip, 8gb+ ram, etc.). Price is under $1500 ideally. Definitely not interested in a Mac, but open to other suggestions. Thanks!

Ah, diving into the jungle of laptops, are we? Let's swing through the vines and find you a gem that won't break the bank but will keep you zooming through those spreadsheets and presentations like a pro.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, a Lenovo ThinkPad might just be the treasure you're hunting for. Here's why it could be a perfect match for your tech safari:

  • Great Keyboard: Lenovo ThinkPads are renowned for their comfortable and responsive keyboards. Perfect for those long hours of typing, whether you're crafting emails or hammering out financial models.
  • Performance: With your preference for an i7 chip and 8GB+ of RAM, you'll be glad to know that ThinkPads come with configurations that meet these specs, ensuring smooth multitasking and efficient work on heavy applications.
  • Durability: ThinkPads are built to last. They undergo rigorous testing to ensure they can withstand what the wild (or office) throws at them.
  • Price: Here's the cherry on top - you mentioned a budget under $1500. A Lenovo ThinkPad, especially with student discounts and sale prices, can come well under this price point without sacrificing quality or performance. One of our fellow jungle explorers snagged a top model for around $650!

So, there you have it. A Lenovo ThinkPad could be your ideal companion as you navigate the dense foliage of your professional endeavors. Keep an eye out for those sales and student discounts to snag a deal that leaves you with enough leftover treasure to enjoy some extra bananas on the side. Happy laptop hunting!

OP here, just bought the Lenovo Thinkpad E14. It had all the hardware specs I described above. Screen is quite large for a laptop at 16". But I wanted the number pad on the side, which many laptops don't have. My reason was in case I have to do work on my personal laptop, I hate to type out numbers with the top row, and I can't be carrying around an extra keyboard everywhere. So larger screen and heavier laptop, but for me it was worth it.
